Any help is appreciated. All help will be credited on the appropriate patch and in any collections I make. -

Just want to poke my head in briefly to suggest a separate thread if you're going to suggest all-new flash patches. In the past we've voted in patches for departments without them.
In the case of SIELU, though, I know Hellga has been here relatively recently (meaning in the last year or two, IIRC), so it may be possible to get in touch with her. Maybe someone has her friended on LiveJournal? Anyway, I'd say ask her about SIELU if you can before making something up.

My current one for the SIELU is Sindarin text reading wisdom.

For a) starting the suggested thread or b) contacting Hellga, the answer is no, because it's you lot with the ideas, so you can explain them better than I would. I'll be sure to vote if you make a thread for it, though. {= )
However, I DID find what were Hellga's e-mail addresses when she was active, so if either one still works, you'll be able to ask her about the SIELU patch. Here you go:
tar_daedin (at) hotmail (dot) com
crazyhellga (at) yahoo (dot) com
Good luck!

Well both would be helpful. I would be grateful if you could start the vote threads, seeing as I am new and do not have a lot of pull around here.

"Pull?" What is this 'pull' you speak of? by

In other words: You're in the PPC, you've been around long enough we mostly know your name, and we don't do things like rank and serial number-- go ahead and start the thread! You don't need a PG to do stuff on'Board, and PGs aren't Mods (even though they do assert moderation where necessary). That's what the 'Board is here for!

After Spending a year said high school I became neurotic and aggressive. About three years later I still have a low view of my self worth and am very scarred of retribution for mistakes.
Anyways, as soon as I get some more work done I will post a few vote threads. -

I'm sorry to hear that. And don't feel like it's just you-- internet communities can be strange places, and it's understandable to feel... unofficial?
But that's fine here. We don't do Offical too wellexcept for actual spin-offs. Feel free to post relevant topics-- as long as you're not flooding the page with multiple new threads on top of each other, absolutely nobody will mind! -

The Department of Misplaced Flora and Fauna could be a sheep, a palm tree, and a mountain. Or something along those lines. -

Wisdom doesn't sound bad. What about the word for knowledge? Spelling? Linguistics? (I'm not sure there's a word for the last one.) A dictionary falling on a pink stick figure's head?

Wisdom was the only smart word I could find that was in LoTR elvish. Unless I have a premade pic it takes forever to make a patch. I also must admit that the LoTR elvish text appeals to me.

Do you know how to post pictures on the Board? I made something that could be the DMFF flash patch. It's got a pixilated panda, palm tree, mountain, and ocean on it.

The Legal Chao is explained on Legal's wiki page. by

"The Department Head has stated that the purpose of Legal is to maintain the balance between order and chaos, as represented by their Departmental logo, the Legal Chao. The Chao (pronounced "cow") resembles a yin-yang with order represented by the five-frond fern on one side and chaos by the anti-gravity apple on the other. The significance of the anti-gravity apple is unknown - it is rumoured to represent the Head of the Physics Division, a former Head of Department, or something else entirely."

Fun fact - there's no such thing as an F flat. Technically, it's only a half-step from E to F, so an F flat's really an E natural.

They do, in fact, represent the same pitch, hence their use for these particular patches.
They do both see use in written music, though, so there IS such a thing as an F flat. Probably not often in the same piece as an E natural, though. Unless it changes keys. Or the composer is a real bastard. >.>
