Hey guys,
I just left the first post for a new RP up on the Message Board. You can find it by clicking this link.
Operation Sueicide
Anyone who wants to can join in. The more people answer the call, the more the odds will be in our favor.
See you soon!
Is there any requirements for boarders to complete in order to participate in rps like this one? If so, what are they?
Sorry for wasting your time or bugging you if this message feels like any of these types to you.
but as far as I'm concerned, the only thing you need to do is read everything that's been posted on the thread so far. If, after doing this, you find that the RP is your style, then by all means join in. The more the merrier, no? Just write your posts so that they fit in with the story as it stands, to keep from disrupting the flow. I will, of course, attempt to tailor my own posts so that they take everyone into account.
On a side note, bugging me is a notoriously difficult thing to do. And if I felt the Board was a waste my time, believe me, I wouldn't be here.
Is it okay if I make up some stuff about myself? If so, then would it be alright if I say that me, The 9th Blue Mage, is from a family consisting of thirteen people that possess a mystical sapphire that has the power to endlessly squirt water out of itself like a squirt gun?
(Oh, and it may weaken the user slightly or greatly depending on how the jewel is used).
Sorry if it seems like I seem like I'm adding dumb things to my fictional self, but I've notice on the RP thread that Wiki say something about using spells to increase his/her (Sorry, don't know gender) abilities, so I hope that I'm not doing anything that goes against the rules here.
since your mystical artifact has only one power, and there is a chance of its weakening you when you use it, I don't see a problem. You're obviously not Stuifying yourself. (Good thing too, because I would be forced to terminate you.)
One point, though. Now, I know the sapphire is your idea, but I don't think water will do much damage in battle. Might I suggest using, say, an acid instead? I checked, and it seems many liquid acids are colorless, like water. Just picture it: a Sue getting a squirt of highly corrosive fluid in her oh-so-perfect face. We can all watch it melt, and smile at the sight. What do you think? Sound good?
(Also, Wik is a guy.)
Acid sounds good too, I guess. I just inspiried by the water thing because the Witch from the Wizard of Oz melted when it got on her. This and the fact that water ruins make up, I thought it would be a good idea if the gem produce water.
Maybe acid could also be part of the package along with the water...you don't mind if I add that power to an emerald that I carry around like the sapphire this time, will you? Or should I think this through some more?
the Wicked Witch of the West. I completely hadn't thought of that. Come to think of it, it's way better than my idea. Acid to the face, for normal humans, is a very bad thing. But, since Sues (and Stus) are essentially demons that have taken on human form, it stands to reason that they can be destroyed by something that does not affect us. Kinda like vampires: according to traditional folklore (which considers vampires to be horrible revenants), holy water wards them off, and they can't cross running water.
Know what? Forget the stupid stuff I said about acid. Go with your original plan. Also, I apologize if I've given you the impression of being a big, bad, no-fun ogre or anything. There really is no need to ask me all these questions. Just jump in and have fun. It's what I started the RP for.
Hope to see you soon!
I've thought of the make up thing because it usually hides the real face. Wash that off and you see a bit of the true face. Sues, being unnaturally beautiful, hides their true nature by brainwashing canon characters and bending the universe around their desires in a canon-verse. As a result, no canon character will question them at all and the Mary-sues will live out their fantasies without interruptions. However, remove said powers and beauty, and you have nothing more than a very flat characterization-wise and possibly fangirlish creature.
It's okay, SttQ. Sometimes I don't think things very through.
I suggested to SttQ that she might have fun with a roleplay because, as said below, we were jokingly exchanging laughs down on the "what would you blow up?" thread, which in turn started because things were tense and I wanted to lighten things up. It was never meant to be a serious PPC-canon roleplay, just a continuation because she seemed to be enjoying it, and I didn't have the time, but I suppose I should have been more clear about that. The reason I suggested using the other Board was because it would've been hard to find here.
So if anyone's going to insist on throwing around blame or criticism, don't direct it at Sister-to-the-Queen, okay?
It seems I'll have to give you a new link for downloading 'The White Chamber', should you want to. Otherwise, the install file's extension will most likely not be recognized by your computer. Here, try this one instead.
The White Chamber Download
It'll get you a WinAce Archiver file.
Enjoy the game... *evil*
You didn't have to do all that, but it's very much appreciated. Next time I have a few hours free, I'll sit down and take a look :)
By the way, if you happen to like horror of the 'gets-under-your-skin'-type, I know a website that'll keep you busy for weeks.
Hurraaaaaay! *waves flag* Girl, you are now officially the awesomeness.
To show my appreciation, here are links to some (in my opinion, at least) top-notch freeware games, with description. Enjoy!
Knytt Stories
A simple, relaxing platformer, that gives this weird feeling of melancholy. The graphics and music always make me go zen.
The White Chamber
This game is made entirely of High Octane Nightmare Fuel, which you will be confronted with the second you click that link. It's just... uh...
...
Oh God no, the eyeball! The eyeball! Make it stop moving, make it stop! Gyaaah, no, it can't do that! Shoot it! Shoot it now!
Sorry about that. Memories... *shudder* Make sure you don't have food in your mouth while you play. I mean it.
The Goat in the Grey Fedora
Of inept detectives, ceramic goats and rabid feminists.

And finally, here's the dialogue from one episode of a silly webcomic I like, namely 'Chris and Trilby Strike Back', by Yahtzee. I know I could just link you to it, but I'd like to imagine your face when you read this and go all, "What the hell?"
Ringo Starr : Unbreeeak my heeeart... It's all fallen into biiiiits... Geeet out your polymer cement and stick it back together like you do with airfix kiiiits...
Christopher Davisham Quinn : Thass stupid. Hearts don't break. They just sort of go splat.
[Pause]
R.S. : Uuuunsplat my heeeart...
[Door slams]
C.D.Q. : Shitty death hell! Trilby's back! Hide the evidence!
Trilby : Chris! Get your formal boots on, we're going down to the gig. [Brief pause] And what the hell is going on here?
C.D.Q. : Nothing!
T. : How many times have I showed you how to pack Ringo into his carrying case properly?
R.S., (on the floor, quietly) : My heart is splatted.
---
P.S.: The RP is rolling along fine. I hope your exorcism goes well. (Dramatic RP is dramatic.)
the RP is back on track. This time I've tacked on an explanation, so no-one has to be afraid of disruptions to PPC canon. For those of you who are still interested, here's the new link.
Operation Sueicide - Preface
Was making a second thread really necessary?
The oldest thread on the Message Board, an automatic welcome message, dated back to 2008, and it's still there. So I figure there's no harm done.
It just means that board hasn't been used to the point of dropping a thread off.
Reposting something as a new thread for little reason is generally frowned upon in any forum setting.
is this. The first post was soon followed by a cancellation message. If I had followed this with a continuation message, and then picked up where I left off, it would have disrupted story flow, like a really long and annoying intext author's note. I didn't want that to happen, and precisely because the Message Board sees comparatively little use, I felt I could get away with it.
My reasoning may have been defective, but I just wanted you to know.
And continue from there.
It would have done little to disrupt since all that came before would have soon vanished as the RP continued- if anyone else took part.
... why don't we let this happen? Yeah, it's dramatic, but that's the point of RPs, right? It's with Boarders, not Agents, so let's put it in the same category as snowball fights and the Boarder Shipfic Fest and have fun with it.
I know you just posted a cancellation message, but I figured I could add my two cents anyway, for what it's worth.
You're absolutely right. If I start a new thread on the Message Board, explain clearly what the 'backstory' is for the new RP, and then repost the beginning of said RP, no-one can possibly misunderstand and we can all have a good time.
Thanks a ton, pal, and I hope to see you soon.
I ruined my last one (which was actually in Canon) but I think that I could do better this time.
For one thing, C*l*br**n's been killed (for those of you who blocked it out of your memories), and Lieutenant Mary Sue is a Parody Sue who may well be on our side, since her existence single-handedly alerted everyone to the Sue problem (though naturally this has yet to be established... it's really a wonder no one's visited her fic yet...)
Anyhow, I don't see what harm this'd do, so long as everybody understands that it's not gonna be canon, because I know we do want HQ to stay in one piece and nicely glitter-free.
Actually, the impression I get from the first post is that somebody's been playing around with a Holodeck, and programmed in a bunch of Sues to kill for stress-relief. :)
*sets up a big ol' creativity shield to protect HQ from any fallout*
I'm fully aware that it wouldn't be canon. It's just that a few days back, Sedri and I were exchanging posts, and this idea sort of materialized.
If I'm doing something I'm not supposed to, please let me know, okay?
...such works of drama tend to have big repercussions for the entire PPC. For every interlude/RP actually dealing with the event, there's a whole truckload of ones about what happened to everyone's characters before, after, and during, whether they were in the spotlight or out of it.
I think that's why such big history-making RPs are generally planned for about once a year.
This does look like fun and I don't see why we can't get a side thing going on here for the heck of it, but I'm just saying be cautious with the level of the whammy.
On the other hand, let's all not be quite so shocked and appalled, everyone? It's not like she's committed high treason!
it wasn't meant to be a PPC interlude (because I'm aware of the effects that would have on PPC canon), but a Board interlude, with the real us, the Boarders, as participants. You know, just like the last RP over on the Message Board.
However, since the way I explained things has caused so much confusion already, it's probably a good thing that I just left a post cancelling it on the Message Board. I already suspected I hadn't been here long enough to have the right to start an RP.
And by the way, Lycaenion? Thanks for defending me. I really appreciate it.
I like the Board quite a bit; I've made some truly great friendships through here, and it's taught me a lot about humour and character development, too. That's why I don't like seeing people get so vitriolic over newer members doing things like this, which may seem like a massive disruption at first.
Somehow it escaped me that this was for Boarders; in that case I may have to join in. :)
I don't think RPs are directly related to seniority (although having Permission is likely good first), but it probably is a good idea, for PPC RPs, to make a post suggesting ideas first, so that, yes, the senior members can think it over.
Does this particular RP count as a PPC RP? Or as a Board RP?
May seem like a stupid question, but I always like to be sure.
