Okay, so the second planning thread got bumped off of the front page pretty quickly, so I wanted to recap what most of us had agreed on:
The date of the Gathering will be on Tuesday, August Third. We'll be meeting at the International Fountain at the Seattle Center around 10:30/11 ish in the morning. As far as I know, this date/time works for everyone. if it doesn't, please post in this thread.
Thanks!

Depending on whether or not I can catch a space on my aunt's couch before heading back to Olympia for a while.
Well then. Get on that, Az... -

The fountain is shiny and slightly surreal - good place for a meetup.

Of course, any suggestions on how to talk to parents about the Scary Internet People are welcome.

You could just say that you're meeting a group of friends. by

That's what I'm doing. Then again, I'm a college-age student, so my mom and dad could care less, as long as I'm not doing anything stupid and/or illegal and have my phone on me.

The problem with that is that I'm fourteen. by

That, and I have to get plane transportation -- the main reason I'm thinking of attending this one, despite it being across the continent from me, is that one of my other close internet friends lives near Seattle.

You could consider taking one or both along. by

At my first Gathering, my dad and CedarCopse's parents were all along, too. Since they had each other to talk to, it wasn't too weird--and Cedar's parents bought us dinner, which was totally awesome. {= ) No guarantees of you being that lucky, but still, it's something to consider if it would make everyone happier.

Barring utter calamity, I will be there. And probably not square.
As to finding? Look for the group of strange people doing strange things, or at least laughing. Probably strangely. -
Looks good, but how will we know who everyone is? by

Saying "PPC Gatherers, meet here"? I've got a current picture on my bio on the Wiki, if that helps any.

I'd bring my potted cacti but I think it'd be a bit awkward. :P
Even just "PPC Gathering" would probably work. Standard piece of notebook paper, sharpie, wave it around at anyone looking likely...?
Gatherings have happened before, there's prob'ly a nice simple way. Maybe those who have been to them before have good ideas? -
Shirts/bags with insignia are good, too. by

Speaking as the veteran of two and a half Gatherings (not sure the last one counts, since we all lived in the city at the time), wearing distinctive t-shirts/vests/bags with something recognizable on them seems to be a good strategy. For instance, at the first Chicago Gathering, I had my laptop bag with the potted cactus flash patch I'd silk-screened onto it, and I think Tungsten had her vest with cactus at that time, too. In Bath `09, hS had his sunflower t-shirt, and I had one of mine with "Neshomeh" on the back (and a fairly cool dragon on the front, if I do say so myself). I had the same shirt in the and-a-half Chicago meetup.
If you're interested, I have instructions for silk screening in the artist's comments for my cactus flash patch: http://neshomeh.deviantart.com/gallery/#/ds7lea It's pretty simple, but let me know if my instructions aren't clear enough if you decide to try it. {= )

I might give that a try. I have a plain black T-shirt lying around.
So you guys might see a Gen with a custom PPC shirt. We'll see if I'm not too lazy to make it. XD -
Thanks. {= ) Good luck! (nm) by
