Seattle Gathering! by

An intrepid Yankee PPCer (VixenMage) is making a trip to our fair Emerald City this August, and we decided that this would really make for an excellent Gathering opportunity. The current (very rough) plans call for staring at the landed UFO, mocking of the , riding the monorail, and checking out the rather awesome library. Pike's Place Market (flying fish and all) and clam chowder are also definitely on the menu.
VM will be in the area for Aug. 2 through 8, so whenever in the middle-ish of that window works for everyone is the when. We'd be starting (and ending) at Seattle Center, unless anyone objects. -

Okay, so there's a big chance that I'm going to be able to go. However, the dates are an important factor in getting airplane tickets, hotel rooms, etc. Also, this is sort of going to be a side trip in a larger trip for me.
The date slot has sort of been left open for sometime in the middle of the week that VM will be in Seattle. So I'm going to throw out the 4th (and 5th if this turns out to be two days as was referenced in VM's lj).
I don't want to sound pushy, but with getting off of work and finding the best prices for everything, I would definitely appreciate a set date soon.
Thanks,
Gen -
Can anyone not make the 4th? by

I agree completely - let's say the 4th, unless anyone objects.

Hey, all. I'm currently without a car, so if it would be possible to carpool with someone who lives in the Everett/Mukilteo/Lynnwood area (or thereabouts), I'd be more than happy to chip in some gas money and stuff.

I'm down in the Renton area, so sorta the wrong direction...
How close are you to a train station? I don't remember the schedules, but between Sounder and the Cascades, there's probably a run down to Seattle at about the right time. -

Hmm. I am getting an ORCA card soon, which I know works on the Sounder trains. That might work...

Wow, how many PPCers are in/around the Seattle area? This is quite exciting! I know I've mostly just been a lurker, but I do live in Tacoma and it would be awesome to actually meet some people face to face. My days off work are Tuesday and Wednesday (and possibly Monday).

As you know, I said in the chat that I'd try to make it. :D Anyways, right now any date during that time would work because I'll be home then.
I'll let you know if I can go for sure sometime soon. -

Oo, when we go to Pike Place,I'm definitely getting hum bao. There's a hole-in-the-wall Chinese restaurant under the Market that serves some of the best hum bao I've ever had.
As far as I know, I'm free during the entirety of August, though either the Sixth or the Seventh would be the best, since that's on a weekend and least likely (hopefully) to conflict with anyone's schedules. -

I'm in the odd situation of having lived around Seattle but never really in it, so advice/discussion/whatever on plans would be good.

Well, I'm in the same boat as you (I live in Mukilteo), but I do have a handy-dandy map of Downtown Seattle that lists various touristy spots. Um, besides what you've already listed, there's always the Ye Old Curiosity Shop over near the Aquarium, which is always fun to go to.
Hmm... I can always raid my Entertainment Book for coupons and stuff if need be. Maybe that'll have some ideas. And anyways, we've got a month-and-a-bit to plan all of this. No need to rush at the moment. -

I get back on the 8th. -sigh- (Not that I'd be able to go anyway... It's off to college with anamia, and the parental units probably wouldn't sanction (read: pay for) a trip across the country right before the start of the semester.)
Anyone in the general area of Colorado, by chance? Or able to get to said general area? Or willing to pay for me to go somewhere else? -grins-
--anamia, who clearly just needs to give up and get a job. -

Well, if you lot want to come to Hull for a day and meet Trojie, you'd be very welcome. Or for anyone down south, we have a few hours to kill on the afternoon of the 3rd in London. Any takers?

I have a family holiday and a compulsory 5-day college field trip this summer, and another compulsory field trip in September, so I'll have to compare schedules.

Will have to check with family to see if there's any day I definitely can't do. I'm also waiting for some job applications to come back, but knowing my luck they won't have done by then (not sure whether that's a good thing or a bad thing in this case. Oh well).

Trojie is in London from this Saturday, but is likely to be very busy with SRS Sciencey Conference. On the third, she and I are in London until 5pm. She's then in Hull with Ansela and me until the 10th, at which point she flies to Ireland.
If anyone else is reading, we could do with someone for London too - all we've got for those four spare hours is going to a tobacconist in Covent Garden for my dad. -
Ooooh, a Trojie! And a Pads and an Ansela, of course :D by

Currently having a few moneytroubles, but they should be sorted by the end of next week, so hopefully I could come over some time between the 3rd and the 10th to see y'all? :)

Aye, you'd be most welcome. Gonna have to be just a during the day thing though. Easiest, too, if you confer with Laburnum and see what day's best for her. Then we get you both at once.

"My Immortal" is a bit long, but "Forbiden Fruit" or "soulless shell" might be fun - no knowledge of either canon is necessary, given that the fics bear no resemblance to their respective canons at all:

I'm off to Cornwall tomorrow, and won't be online much, and thus not getting on here. So if you two could work out a day and email me to let me know what you come up with, that'd be most handy.
