I started reading this a while back, but sort of lost touch with it and forgot most of the things that happened. I'm rereading it now, and I'm realizing just how cussing good it is.

This writer on fanfiction.net basically wrote a different version of the third season of Avatar: The Last Airbender. Usually I'm quite jaded by fics like these; most writers steal a lot of material from the original canon, or they simply surgically inject a Mary Sue protagonist into the middle of things and somewhat modify the events to make said Sue look good. This writer does none of that. She manages to take the storyline in a different direction while still staying true to the how the canon works. Most OCs have fairly minor roles, and those that don't (such as General Huo) are well-written and quite likable. While this writer does seem to be a Zutaran, romance is very much NOT the central part of the plot. I hate the pairing myself and it hasn't gotten on my nerves.

All in all, a very enjoyable set of fics. In my opinion, this writer is like the Henry David Thoreau of the Avatar fandom; she manages to return the canon in better condition than before.
