I just find birds hilariously adorable, for some reason.
I was just kind of randomly wondering what other people find really, really cute (in anything from fanfic to real World One life). I, myself, love odd or "voluntary" families, situations where a bunch of people come together and end up with parent/children dynamics. (Stormsong, Skyfire and the M kids are sort of an example). And people sleeping together in the G-rated sense, with person A's head on person B's shoulder, or lap, or lying down with A's head on B's chest or they're just snuggled together. I think it's because it shows that they're really comfortable with each other, and trust each other, but even without analyzing the appeal, I think it's really cute.
Now, spill your cute buttons, pretty please - whether they're big brown eyes or long slimey tentacles?
Babies always get me. Just about any type of baby. Well, any type of mammalian baby, that is. I think it is the innocence and the clumsiness. It is so cute to watch all types of babies try to coordinate themselves.
Alot of people have dogs and cats, so...I have a dog that's, like, 9 years old and little grey, but still looks and acts like a puppy. She's a lab/collie cross with these BIG BROWN EYES!!!
Awkward attraction gets me every time. See Exhibit A, Pride & Prejudice (with Keira Knightley), with its awkward conversations and long, awkward pauses that send me into spasms of delighted giggles and "aww"s. Also, Mr. Darcy's perpetual kicked puppy face in that movie is hilariously sweet. And I'd have to second you on odd/voluntary families. I'm in one, and I think they are so adorable.
(...I am also known to make embarrassing noises when there are newborn babies around. But shhhh, don't tell.)
For me, it's bunnies, kitties and puppies, oh, and baby chicks. Heck, I even think baby humans are adorable too.
Huh, always baby things it seems.
I find cats terribly cute (and of course evil), especially kittens. In fact all baby animals with the exception of Canines Make me squee.
I also think that the Great and Terrible Dalek Gerald is very cute, but that may just be me!
Any kind, from weasels to wolverines. Seriously, despite the fact that they are just as horribly violent as Brian Jacques portrayed them, wolverines look like teddy bears with feather-dusters stuck to their behinds. D'aawwww.
On the human side of things, really skinny and cheerful-but-slightly-dim young male characters tend to bring out my squeeing side. (This counts for the innocent kind of "cute" because I'm asexual. I just wanna hug 'em ^_^) This is probably why I enjoy writing Agent Drake so much.
Heh, I love Drake too. And your mustelids... dammit, how'd you end up with all the best characters, you lucky duck? And oh well, violent things can still manage to be obscenely cute.
... given that S&S were borrowed from someone I knew on a board I used to go on and Molly and Moses were effectively stolen from she of the spear incident, but thanks anyway ^_^ And yeah, violent things are cute. I have a thing for what TVTropes calls the "Enfant Terrible" (nothing to do with the art movement in this case, they use it to literally mean "terrible child"). Writing Molly is a lot of fun. Moses is more difficult, given that all he's currently able to do is look cute, go "peep" and pee or vomit whenever his caretakers least want to deal with it, but once he's walking, he'll be fun too.
I know, but they're sort of yours on permanent loan. And they are hilarious. And hmm, a lot of PPCers seem to be tropers (I am too). Oh dear, two evil babies running around? Do you have any specific plans for Moses?
And while I'm babbling about my favorite agents and TvTropes, the PPC page over there made mention several times of an incident involving Stormsong, Skyfire, and some gender-bending, and my immediate reaction was "This I have to see!" but I'm having some difficulties hunting down the link, although it's probably right under my nose... but anyway, could you perhaps help me?
I'm thinking Moses will grow up to have all the strength and abilities of a Taggerung (since his badficcer creatrix was apparently under the impression that Taggerungship is hereditary), but the personality of Ralph Wiggum. So, out of a super-strong-but-dim otter and an actively-malicious ferret, who do you think will cause more damage?

And the followup, if you wanna see more of Hemlock:

Oh, definitely the ferret. Active, intelligent malice trumps just blundering around every time. (Although blundering does a lot too...) Doubly so if she can persuade Moses to do stuff. I'd like to see them pilfer things from the DoGA, but would that conflict the ban on Emergencies?
D'you know what Department they'll be in when they grow up? And is there a minimum age for that? HQ doesn't strike me as the kind of place to worry about age requirements...
And you have my eternal gratitude; that was quite as funny as I thought it would be. After Stormsong said that, it was really a race between the pheromones and the Laws of Narrative Comedy, wasn't it? (Although the Kiern thing was kind of sad.) Hemlock and the bubble gum was great, though - actually, all of that interaction. Is Drake going to encounter Plugg while genderbent? That'd be interesting.
The youngest agents so far have been thirteen, which makes sense to me because it fits with the 13+ age requirement to use ffnet and LJ. Molly will probably end up being partners with PitViper's little foxcub Kieran, at least until Moses is old enough - though Kit and I are also rescuing a hermaphroditic cat-person baby in our current mission, which could grow up to be Moses' partner. Not sure which depts they'll be in. Molly, probably whichever one allows her to kill most things. She might become more Neutral than her current Chaotic behaviour as she gets older (not sure whether she's Chaotic Neutral or Evil, though), so at least her violence can be directed.
Poor weasel really should know better by now. I'm not sure whether it's him or Laburnum who suffers most - the difference seems to be that she brings her suffering on herself, while he just suffers the fallout of everyone else's messing around.
Girl!Drake and Plugg should meet, definitely. Plugg's conflicted about him on more than one level. He's figured it probably doesn't count as gay if Drake looks THAT much like a girl even when he is in male form (ah, rationalisation), but Drake's from the Naruto continuum and therefore counts as a ninja, the pirate's natural enemy XD XD
I like rabbits. They're cute and dumb. Also, cuttlefish, because they have the sweetest eyes ever. And goats.
I could tell you more. Is "cute" the same thing as "huggable"?
At the moment, I'm defining cute as anything that makes people squeal "Aww", smile uncontrollably, and/or melt inside. Cuttlefish? I never thought to notice cuttlefish eyes.
Well, then, all Death Note-verse Shinigami are huggable, and so is No Face from Spirited Away.
I've got a picture of me, at an aquarium, with a cuttlefish. We look very much alike.
Death...Note... Somehow I never thought of that series and the words "cute" or "huggable" being anywhere near each other. But to each their own. No Face, though, is totally adorable. When he brings the girl that whole stack of bath tokens just to be nice...aww!
Yes, there are some cute things in Death Note, for example: Near, the albino sheeply-son-of-a-duck; L, in volume 2, when he does the 'Bang', 'If I were Kira you'd be dead' and 'that the good guys always win' lines (just look at the panels!) and in nearly every volume after and including 5, esp. when he eats the bun, wrapper and all, and then spits out the wrapper with a 'bleerr' sound. He's also pretty cute when he fights with and generally antagonises Light.
Light has never been considered cute in Death Note, only creepy (although the look on his face when he'd just lost his memory was priceless). I think one of the worst for me concerning him was when he kissed Misa and we got a big profile shot of it. That just traumatised me and put me off girls and hetero fics for months. In fact, I just don't read those now. Only Yaoi.
As for Spirited Away, Yubaba's baby boy was always cute, even when he threatened to break Chihiro's (the girl's) arm.
he was especially cute as a rodent.
Any baby bird. Actually, any bird period, to be honest. Owls, emus, hornbills, seagulls, pigeons...but not cassowaries. They're just scary.
Baby birds? Still in the "bald little shriveled thing" phase, or when they start being fluffy?
I just find birds hilariously adorable, for some reason.
My cute buttons are probably all baby mammals. Even human babies, even though I don't think they're so cute after I have to take care of them for a few hours. Ah well. They're cute for an hour or so, depending on their mood. My other cute buttons are also some canon couples and even some non-canon couples. (Like how I find the canon pairing of LotR's Sam and Rosie very cute and how I find the non-canon pairing of Neville and Luna from the Harry Potter series also cute as well. I actually probably still like the non-canon pairing simply because I used to think it was canon.)
What other things do I find cute? Ladybugs, pandas, stuffed animals, Zero from "Nightmare Before Christmas", and I could probably go on forever here.
I do believe the only thing I see as cute are the Vocaloids, namely Miku Hatsune.
Ive got a bit of a fanboy complex, I must admit.
But I just can't help it . . .
Great . . . now my buttons are all over the floor.
I think they're so adorable!
People snuggled up together is also cute. Several of my WIPs have characters in that sort of position, for various reasons - post-sex, collapsed after training, fallen asleep comforting each other. It's just so easy to make cute.
Puppies and kittens snuggled up together. Or two people snuggled up with puppies and kittens on their laps. Is this the first time someone has said "Thanks for the mental image" sincerely?
Probably.
I actually like all baby cats, dog-like creatures (including foxes) and baby bears are cute as well.
I miss my dogs.
Miss them? What happened?
And baby bears are cute FROM A VERY GREAT DISTANCE.
They stayed in Derby. Ansela moved into my house. Where, I might add, she has my extremely cute kitten to go "awww" at.
Most baby animals fail to impress, but I have a soft spot for cats, and by extension kittens.
I don't usually go in for cute, though. Many of my friends have been very surprised to see my reaction to a kitten.
*laughs* Can anyone resist kittens?
Several of my friends despise cats in all forms, be they young or old.
Said friends are clearly defective. I wonder if there's a warranty...
