Lurkers that introduce themselves are preferable to those that don't, right?
Bein' a long-time member of the 'People That Think the Seamanship in POTC Fanfics Should Be Slightly Realistic Club' (long name, short member roster), and havin' had some interest in the work of you fine people for a while now, I figured I should introduce myself. That way if I see something of interest to post about, nobody will be confused as to who I am. Nobody much, anyway.
I have more of an interest in history than I do nonfiction, these days, but I do enjoy pirate movies (POTC, etc.), science fiction, and Redwall.
That's all. I do have a habit of dissapearing for long periods of time, due to the fact that the internet doesn't work well out in the middle of the ocean, but otherwise I at least attempt to show up sometimes.
And that really is all, this time.

I am in the US Coast Guard and just happened to end up there. Standing watches, mostly. However, it gives one a new take on the seafaring parts of books and movies about ships. More realistic.

Glad to meet you. I must say that I have enjoyed being on a ship the few times that I have been aboard one (though admittedly that was always a cruise ship).

Wow, a sea bound person! That's pretty awesome! There's a member around here who is pretty liberal with the dispensing of boats, so that'll work.
