So, yesterday I go to see the new Percy Jackson movie. I come home, check the Pit, and realize that the badfic is bad.
What to do? First off, take care of the shapeless minis.
They are called Mini-Harpies, and are pretty much exclusivly female.

You know, somehow I'm not surprised that the fic for PJatO is lousy. It's a YA series - so it's aimed at basically prime fanbrat age - and the characters are canonically demigods. Let me guess, there's a lot of Big Three kids running around suddenly?
There's children of the Big Three, naturally; those were unavoidable from the start. *sigh* I wonder, how does one miss the fact that the oath-breaking is a supremely bad plan?
But, beside the expected, there's also: children of Kronos, children who are 2/3 god, children of random other gods, probably both real and invented, Egyptian gods... oh, and several people who don't seem to be able to count, but that's nothing new.
It makes me sad. The books are excellent, IMO. Why must their subject matter be butchered?
...never mind. I remember. Because it's there, and there's a movie of it. Though, from the looks of things, the fandom was in a bad way even before the movie hit.
When did these schmucks ever read Gilgamesh?
And I thought the random fire-breathing hydra out of nowhere in the trailers was bad enough... unless that was supposed to be the chimera? I haven't actually seen the movie yet, just read the books. Come to think of it, I don't think we ever actually ran into a hydra in the books...
I don't actually know; I've not been to the movie yet. I'm almost dreading it at this point. Apparently, though, large chunks have been whacked out, rearranged, and otherwise mutilated.
I'm not one hundred percent certain on the hydra front, either. There's a mention of a head in the oracle's room, I know for sure, but as for actual living hydra? I'm pretty sure there's not one in the first book, at least.
Yeah. About that.

They put the hydra in the movie. In Nashville. Where Nashville came from, I have no clue. And, somehow, it's disguised as a bunch of janitors. When you find out what they did to the Mist, let me know.
The movie itself is pretty good, just... It's up there with Ella Enchanted as far as the transition from book to movie is concern.
