Hey everyone. I'm a newbie on the board, but not to reading PPC and its affiliates. uhm... I've not been writing fan-fiction long although I consider myself to be somewhat of a writer.
damn I'm terrible at writing these sort of things... anywho feel free to say hi or whatever and I'll reply soon. hopefully.
~B
what fandoms do you do?
I'm into Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter, and occaisionally Labyrinth
Welcome to the Board! *gleeful wave*
Have a bag of pebbles and a Random Shiny Object! Good for throwing at Sues or staring at.
Hope you have fun here! =D
(Don't mind me, I'm hyper.)
SQUEE!!! *ahem* excuse my brief lapse of self-control there and let me go whack myself over the head a few times. Preferably with a nice thick volume of "Common Sense and where to find it: By Mr. Ed" s'cuse me for a minute here...
but really, oh. my. flying. spaghetti. monster. I just barely read the PPC gathering of York in 2008 and let me say its an honour.
But really Hello, and thank you for welcoming me to the board and the shiny object.
~Bryn
An honour and squeeage... first time anyone's had that response to me. *flattered*
Have a pair of identical phones.
Welcome to the PPC! Here's an Anti-glitter shield from the Raven Armory. (It'll block out the sight of a Sue and can't be Sueified. Don't ask how that's possible. I don't even know, myself.) Oh, and here's a bottle of bleeprin as well. You'll need it, believe me.
Hi there. Have a cup of some Whomping Willow Tea. It's good for you.
Help yourself to your favorite venomous arthropod!
The Dromopodian family is my favorite!
*pokes*
Welcome!
I see you got the Big Bag o' Links. May I also direct your attention to the Lost Tales Archive? It's under construction and likely to be for some time, but it's the place to read some PPC stuff you won't find anywhere else now that Geocities is gone. And there's more where that came from (read: on my hard drive until they've been spiffed up a bit).
Good to meet another aspiring writer. However, as such, you might want to watch your capitalization (or lack thereof). It's important to the craft. {= )
What fandoms are you into?
~Neshomeh
Sorry for the capitalization issue. I really do try to aviod those. Thanks for the tip.
I like the HP, LotR, and Labyrinth fandom although I sometimes dabble in Artemis Fowl and Doctor Who fandom as well. What about you?
And many thanks for the links!
LotR will always be my first true love. I'm not as knowledgeable as some about the finer points of Tolkien lore, but when it comes to the main canon (The Hobbit, The Lord of the Rings, and The Silmarillion) I know my stuff. And if I don't, I have reference books to help me. ^_~
After that, there's Farscape, HP, Dragonriders of Pern, Phantom of the Opera (Leroux and Kay for the most part; Webber's all right as long as it's not the movie), Jekyll & Hyde (book and musical), Animorphs, and assorted other sci-fi and fantasy. Most recently I've gotten into Temeraire and the new Battlestar Galactica, though I've only read the first book and seen the first season, respectively.
~Neshomeh
Very nice. Who is your favorite character in the LotR fandom?
It's a toss-up between Aragorn and Sam. And Faramir. And Eowyn. And Galadriel. And Theoden. And Bilbo.
Um.
You see the problem. ^_^;
~Neshomeh
To fight off the Flowers, of course ;)
Thanks for the welcome and the poker. I presume you mean fireplace poker not poker card game. I can't play poker to save my life... but I'm downright deadly at egyptian rat screw
Though if you want the card game, I'm sure I can find one for you. *rummages*
Seriously, besides a fireplace poker is MUCH more threatening. Unless one is terrified of getting papercuts or playing cards... but I digress. And thanks again
I comes bearing links. *drags out Big Bag O' Links and digs through it*
First off is the link to the Wiki, a veritable fount of information for a newbie to read through. Especially helpful for you if you want to write missions would be the page on Permission (note the capital P).
I would advise against reading any Legendary Badfic, unless you are of strong mind and stomach. Even the summaries have been known to give those of weaker constitution nightmares.
For your reading pleasure, not knowing what you have already managed to find, I have several links for you. The Original Series (not to be confused with Star Trek) is a good place to start, as the PPC did many aeons ago. What do you mean I'm exaggerating? The Department of Geographical Aberrations is another interesting place to visit, if you have the time and inclination. Also by hS is the Tangled Webs site, which contains backstory for the PPC as an organisation. If you would rather visit the Floaters, then July's site is the place you need to be. And last, but most definitely not least, Response Centre 45 is where Trojie and Pads' missions are archived.
Hope you enjoy your stay here. Please deposit your sanity into the container offered to you by another Boarder; you won't be needing it here.
eh yeah. foolish me when I first started reading PPC fics I came across the Legendary BadFics. and read them. and wlthough it gave me in sight to the sue-thors mind... I still can't look at lavender or eat vanilla ice cream *shudder*. thank you so much for the links and I'll be sure to comb trough them for fics I've not read yet.
~Bryn
Um...I'm not so good with gifts. And since you can't eat vanilla ice-cream, how about a nice big bottle of Bleepka? (I read the Legendary Badfics, too. I feel your pain)
~Xanthia B.~
Thank you for the bleepka, and thank you for not sending me vanilla ice cream. The sad thing was it used to be my favorite. Now... eh... I can barely look at it without shuddering.
I'm sure I'll find MANY uses for the bleepka,
~Bryn
I think this is one of the first to poke back! Excellent... She will fit in nicely...
Leto
I'm sure someone'll hit you with the links soon, so...I'll give you an egg whisk! It's shiny, gold-plated, and whisks not only eggs but author wraiths and those pesky spambots, too. Use it for good and not much evil.
Welcome to the insanity! Enjoy the ride.
thank you for the whisk! although it'll be used for more author-whisking then egg whisking I'm afraid. kitchens and I are a deadly combination...
Welcome to the Board! Please deposit your sanity in the provided receptacle. *indicates bucket marked "Warg Fodder"* You shan't be needing it here. Someone will probably be along soon to provide you with Teh Links, but until then...
FIRST GLOMP!
aww thank you for the glomp. I think. and here are what remains of my sanity *drops in a small anthropomorphic blob-like thing in warg fodder* careful it tends to spasm.
We don't want it upsetting their tummies, do we? Gah! Gerroff! Lie still you little-
Bad sanity! no doughnuts! there that should do it for now. serve it soon. or face the wrath of *SANITY!*
That's against school rules, you know...

So I'm safe from that rule. Mwahahahaha!

We're off to whack a creepy schizophrenic stalker! the creepiest schizophrenic stalker of all! (bar few!) [to the tune of 'we're off to see the wizard']
We hear he is a stalkerish schiz-
O if ever a schizo there was!
If ever O ever a stalker there was
This sparkly jerk is one because....
Sounds like fun, count me in! Just let me get my baseball bat and some mace just in case he tries anything funny.
Oh and don't forget the mirror and the wet cat. No one escapes the wet cat alive, not even a meyerpire, or 'diamonds'.
speaking of which why would diamonds need to feed on blood? and if they are made of diamonds why aren't they see-through? And if they are 'diamond' are they susceptible to aggregated diamond nanorods(an allotrope of carbon first synthesized in 2005)?
They're not made of diamonds, silly, there's diamonds buried in the surface of their skin. Which is made of marble.
But marble is not that hard... you take a hammer and chisle to marble and marble loses. So really if you're armed with a BFB with the tip covered with aggregated diamond nanorods then you'd have a dead meyerpire.
And if it takes more then one shot (unlikely but plausible) to take them down get a modified automatic machine gun and enough of those BFB, along with lighter fluid and some matches... I'll have to test it out but it might just work.
And then we'll feed it to a troll just for lulz.
