Literally, in this case.
I just saw that movie 9 yesterday. (No clue what those critics were talking about; I thought it rocked.) And anyway, after watching it, I had some odd and somewhat horrifying thoughts that I thought I might bring up for the sake of discussion. A fandom sprung up around WALL-E. The very same will probably happen with 9. And we all know; with a fandom, comes badfic. To make matters oh so much worse, two of the characters (3 and 4), are TWINS. Moreover, they are ADORABLE. And inseparable. And they are 3 and 4. As in, Rule 34 (sick director's joke or odd coincidence, I wonder?). Do you all see what I'm getting at here?
Still more horrifying is the point I'm getting to. If badfic is to spring up, well, how exactly does one do a mission in a universe where all life on earth has been wiped out, and the number of living, sentient creatures is so specific, it's actually the title? I suppose a possible disguise would be those spider-robot mook things, but then again, they don't appear until very late in the movie, and they're all wiped out by the end.
Needless to say, I have prepared my panic room.
Your thoughts? Just curious.
That said, in regard to potential disguises for Agents, I think I've read a few missions where they went in as themselves. If that doesn't work out, perhaps something could be done to render the Agents invisible so any noncanons don't see them? Having canon-compliant disguises sounds rather difficult, though since I'm not familiar with the canon, I may be wrong.
Which it will, because you fear it (:P), then do not fret about disguises - they're not essential in fics that don't have any original characters.
