Just looking at my dates right now, I have to be in Ireland before the 15th, and I may still be in Stockholm on the 10th. This just really doesn't work, does it???

Fellow PPC'ers of that Sceptred Isle (TM).
I'm heading over to the UK for work next weekend for five weeks or so (more correctly, three weeks of work then two weeks holiday), during which I will be initially in Winchester, and then roaming around, but in the general vicinity of London/the south-east.
Realising it's short notice, but anyone interested in a mini-Gathering of sorts? I'll be in the UK from 21 Sept to 26 October all up, and on holiday from 9 October onwards.
I've never been to Oxford (unless driving past it on a motorway ten years ago with my parents counts), and given its status as both the home of Professor T and the scene of prior gatherings, may I suggest it as a possible venue?

Since the 10th is a Saturday, perhaps the 17th? How long are you around for? I can skive classes without too much issue, but a weekend might make it easier for others.
Oh and FYI, the Ashmolean is down for refurbishment until Novemeber. But I like the Natural History museum, and there's others as well, as well as the more geeky pursuits, like the botanic gardens and Christ Church collage (both of which have entrance fees, although CC isn't as bad as I thought it would be: £6 for an adult, which is totally worth it for the Harry Potter geekgasm you have when you come round the door to the entrance to the great hall).
(And if a meet doesn't happen, and you want to go to Oxford anyway, or if anyone wants to be touristy coming from London, get the Oxford Tube (it's a bus) from outside Victoria station. It takes more time than the train (about an hour and a half depending on traffic), but it's cheapish and it has wireless that sort of works. Plus, it's pretty much 24/7).
As I will be going to Sweden from Sep 25th and working my way to London by train by about Oct 10th.
This Canadian would love to do a meetup somewhere in England!
Though currently have nowhere to stay and have no ideas on the hostel situation here.

I'm trying to stay with friends wherever possible, but I have also looked into hostels. Most of the YHA/HI London hostels are GBP 22.50 a night for a shared dorm. I stayed at two when I was in London a couple of years ago (St Pauls and Oxford Street) - I preferred Oxford Street as it had nicer rooms (at least at the time).
Look online for hostels. We've got them all over the place. So far as I know you're usually looking at fifteen or twenty quid a night, though I've not investigated this personally.
Dunno if I'll be able to make it. I seem to have utterly lost my ability to handle public transport, and the current cash situation is a bit minimal, thanks to being on the dole. I'll give a better idea nearer the time.
Where are you going in England? Is it just London, or are you seeing the rest of the country? Only within a month there'll be two of us in Hull and another just up the motorway in Leeds, and a fourth just across the Pennines. Come north!
