Someone claiming to be one of your members has been deleting all links to your page on http://tvtropes.org. A thread about it can be found at http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/posts.php?discussion=w7b9ndng55th3uk4qdo232y7&page=1#4. Use the tool at http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/knowerForm.php to create an account. JulyFlame has already said something at http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/ProtectorsOfThePlotContinuumDiscussion, but if other people want to clarify or discuss this topic, the links are all available here.

Okay, no caps this time, I promise.
Alright, facts first off:
1) KGarrett was the one who was deleting links from TVTropes and had put a 'new members need not apply' type message there and I was the one who took that bit out and put the message on the discussion page.
2) Yes, some of us are quite disgruntled with those newbies which are of TvTropian origins.
3) Anyone who wants to put KG through the pisser for this gets to go through me first. Yes, he screwed up bigtime with this. Doubtless they're be more times. And his ass has already been flamed in regards to what a stupid waste of life he is by himself, and also by Pads apparently.
4) Drama. Over. Now. Everyone get over yourselves. KG, that means you especially. You're not an idiot and you're not worthless, you're just in the negatives when it comes to self esteem. Everyone lay off, now. I'm glad we all had that little ranting and getting the fury out earlier this week, time to go back to peacetime and all that.
That said, everyone shut up. I don't care who you are, this subject is over. Closed. -
he's incapable of explaining himself then? (nm) by

No. However, it's an apology, not a homework assignment. by

Believe what you will, but I'm actually sincere on this issue, and I'm trying to make sure I word it as well as possible. I could honestly care less about when you "expect" it to be posted. Just because July decided to step in for whatever reason doesn't mean I'm incapable of explaining.

I don't mean to be rude, but her position is entirely justified. This needs to be said. As said, though, I'm likely better off making a new thread of it at this point, so that is what I am doing.

At least, as best I can give without naming names. It'd be longer and more elaborate otherwise.

Didn't it recently come up in conversation that we were getting a lot of people joining the Board after seeing the links on TVTropes? I remember thinking that it might be easier for our little community if there weren't any links over there, but I don't think I ever said it and I'm not sure anyone else did.
To be honest, I'm not sure this is a bad thing, but that's me with my let's-keep-our-community-small preferences. *shrug* -

That is basically the reason given by the person responsible for the edits.
--
'Part of me snapped and believed it was the only way to stop the PPC from continuing on the downward spiral it has been. No more TV Tropes entries = far fewer newbies (I'm not stupid enough to think it'd completely stop newbies from coming; we get 'em from other places too) = far fewer people messing things up = those who are already here/not screwing everything up can go into damage control. Seemed to me like the only way to help fix things.
I figured, all the people causing the problems are newbies. Therefore, remove the newbies, you remove the problem. Most of the "bad" newbies come from TV Tropes, I observed; ergo, remove any way to get to us from TV Tropes. Hypocritically, I have yet to leave myself even though I'm one of the people ruining things. Actually, I think I cracked upon reading Rohirric Monkey's post, though there's not much in there that should have made me snap about this. shrug But yeah, that's why. It's also why my edit reasons tended to have a somewhat apologetic tone. I figured, once things were fixed, I could always just put them back, but there didn't seem to be any way otherwise. At least I'm not trying to stop new people from joining ever again like I originally pondered.
--
They admit that they 'went temporarily insane and add 'It seemed like the only way. At the least it'd slow things down enough that we could fix things without a flood of people adding to the problem.'
Yes, I know who it is. No, I will not name them. -

This got turned into a greatly lessened form of Well Intentioned Extremism. Lessened in that it involves no genocide, but wiping TV Tropes of all PPC links to lessen newbies coming in was still over the top and unwarranted.
I figured it out from searching for the person's IP here. I don't want to name them either. -

I certainly don't want to stop newbies coming in; 'closing ranks', as Pads said, is a terrible. I suppose I didn't phrase myself very well - sorry, Ansela. I just meant that I myself wouldn't put a great deal of energy into replacing those links. Since they said "Someone claiming to be" one of us, I assumed it wasn't and shrugged it off. Sorry.
That said, giving the wrong impression about the PPC is even worse than trying to close ranks. I'm not going to go and advertise our presence, but negative 'press' is even worse. -

Did I miss a memo about how we're closing the ranks and not taking on anyone new lest they somehow add something to the collective canon that not all oldbies have agreed upon?
I know Ansela's not willing to name names here, but whoever's going around giving this impression of us, I for one am not happy about it. -
