As of tomorrow, 6:00 pm EST, I will be on a plane to London and will not have much, if anything, in the way of internet access. As far as I know, the plan for the Gathering is Saturday the 9th of May, in Bath, at some time to be determined. hS knows how to get in touch with me in London to cement the plan or if anything changes. I hope to see at least a few of you there. It should be good times. {= )
The rest of you, don't burn down the Board while I'm gone, okay? ^_~
Farewell for now!

Never left the international area of the airport, though. I was only there to take another plane to Geneva.
Good luck to those who go to the Gathering. I hope you all realize how lucky you are. -

... it's not only England that's allowed to call Gatherings. To my knowledge there've been at least three official ones outside the UK -- Canada, New Yorkish, and somewhere antipodean. Obviously if you live in Mongolia or somewhere it'd be a bit tricky, but most places you can pull at least two or three other people together. Try it, see what you can manage.
That being said, we /are/ lucky. :P

Me n Pigeonarmy, who doesn't seem to be around much anymore. And hopefully Sedri and I will be able to get together at some point, and I dare say we'll call that a Gathering too :D

The core of the problem is the distance, not the Atlantic Ocean. Even if it took place in my country, it would likely still require me to buy a plane ticket or drive for a day or two to get there. And I don't have a car.
But most importantly, how would I explain that to my parents?
"Hey mom, the Protectors of the Plot Continuum are planning a gathering half a continent away. Can I go?"
"Uh... what's that?"
"A terminally nerdy Internet community I joined two months ago. We spork badfic, kill Mary Sues and restore the canon."
"You spork what to kill what and restore what?!" -
There was a tiny Pacific Northwest one, too... by

My home base is Tacoma. It's nice to come across people who won't respond to me being from Washington by saying, "You mean Washington DC?"

... (and if you're still around to read it) how about 12 noon (or if that's too early, 1 pm?) outside the main door to the Bath Abbey and the entrance to the Roman Baths (that's the same place). Nice and distinctive. Or, Kaitlyn says outside the train station might be a bit easier. If you still have a moment to think about it before you go, it's your choice.

Noon should be fine, and I'd be happier if you guys met me at the station. Less of me wandering around looking unplugged that way. *g*
See you there!

That's Bath Spa train station, since there's no such place as Bath Station.
And if anyone else is reading, yes, you can come too.
And if any psycho-internet stalkers are reading, HALLO WE CAN SEES YOU.

It seems doable. Would mean leaving the house pretty early, but I don't mind that. I might be able to come, although my train would get in just after noon. -

Would also need to know roughly what sort of time the Gathering is likely to end, because the only way it's doable for me is buying advance tickets for specific train times. :(

So any train after about 5pm would work. Or earlier, of course, if you need to get back for anything.

I've been wondering if I should invite myself since the idea started to be thrown round. But I don't want to invade... Much.

a maniacal axe-murderer out to hack them all to pieces, I can't see anyone complaining. With Gatherings it's generally a case of the more the merrier.
...On that note, we really do need another Board census of members, I'm losing track of where everyone comes from these days. -

Wish I could make it out there, but I think I'm done on the international front for at least a few months now.
This is what happens when I go to Argentina for two months without telling anyone or going on anything but necessaries for the duration. From now on I do hereby swear that I will pay more attention to the PPC boards and actually POST, as by this point most people don't even remember me (except possibly as one of those lurkers who posts occasionally, but there's many of those, ain't there?).
