... is generally frowned-upon. Granted, there are some precedents--and if someone already said you could do it, then feel free to ignore this post--but on the whole, we like people to come up with their own ideas.

Isn't there an entire team of dead canons played by Sean Bean, though?

The existence of precedents doesn't change the fact that, most of the time, we prefer people not to do that.
As for Team Phoenix, I haven't even seen their stories. I could be wrong, but my guess is that it's more of a joke than anything else.

...just the product of an overactive twelve-year-old. Six years later, I'm rewriting everything, including that they're not actually the canons - they're carbon copies thereof, who all differ in small but important ways.
Mostly I'm now focusing on Kitty, my original, and Alec, who's evolved from the canon he was. The rest get so little use as main characters to be almost inconsequential. :) (Not breaking them up, though. I love them too much.)
He's not a complete pinch of the canon character; rather, as the backstory elaborates, he's a canon replacement (who was, in the Sue-story, intended to die considerably earlier than he was supposed to according to the canon), and his personality does have some distinct differences from the real Karl Wolf.
I'm just noting that in case it makes a difference. If it'd be a problem later on, I won't press the issue. There's still plenty of time to brainstorm other characters if so.
Since he doesn't seem to come from an actual fic (published or no), I'm still dubious. I perceive a difference between a) lifting an actual canon replacement from an actual fic, and b) simply making a canon replacement. You might see if you can get some input from the other PGs off-Board and see what they think about it before you decide what to do.

Fair enough.
