When I was seven, I declared for the world to hear that I was going to walk down the aisle in jeans.
Still, pure light blue wouldn't suit me either; a mix of white, mid-blue and a forest green... that appeals to me.

I suggest that a golden shield be the image on the flashpatch of this department. Anyone have any objections?
(I'm in the middle of a DCPS mission, and I was about to mention the flashpatch when I realised I didn't know what it was, and so I went to the wiki, and behold! There is no designated flashpatch for this department!)
Have the initials of particular characters or names of continua 'engraved' (read: written / crudely stitched) on the shield. But that's detail. Shield sounds good - why gold, though? (I don't particularly like gold, you see. Prefer silver.)
...it usually gets used to symbolise the premium, best service offered. And we want to reassure our characters :)
(I prefer silver as well, for myself, but gold tends to be used for 'yay, we're the best')
I expect the different divisions of the DCPS would have things on the shields to differentiate them, or maybe the swords Artic suggested could be used for some division or other. But for the Dept. as a whole, the basic golden shield I think should be the symbol.
But I won't. Unless my non-existant boyfriend decides to buy a gold engagement ring, because I want silver. But that aside...

... I don't want engagement or wedding rings at all. I hate wearing rings, they're fiddly and uncomfortable and easy to lose. There, it's ever so much simpler and cheaper that way. *grin*
As I have a ring size something like Q-and-a-half, which is bigger than they usually stock, at least for womens' rings. I suppose I'd find actually wearing one to be annoying, too, but I love the symbolism of attatchment (but not the idea that only women wear rings until the wedding itself. Men should, too).
I babble but yes, I second you. Perhaps wear it on a chain around your neck?
... adjust the more sexist traditions. If I have an engagement ring (or other token), so does he. If my dad walks me down the aisle, his mum has to walk him down. If I'm wearing white, so is he.

Not only is it a lot of fuss, it's also mostly illegal in most parts of my home country the way my sexuality is going. xD Also I can't stand formality, and any jewelry I wear gets lost or broken within a day except for ear studs which are basically stuck in my ear. So yeah...

And I certainly agree with kicking the sexist traditions. I don't want to wear white - not all white. If he's wearing a tux, I'll have a black-and-white dress... though I'd rather something with colour, like green or blue. Light blue. Like the Earth. And I don't want my father walking me down the aisle - I want to walk alone.
Bleh; I'm doing the opposite of you, but I agree. Very much so. Sexism really is old.
It's only pretty recently that the "white dress" tradition came in, and it seems to be going out of style now. Blue is supposed to be a lucky wedding colour, according to Snopes.
White makes me look jaundiced, anyway. Or maybe it's only the combination of navy and white (my school uniform - I looked like a zombie even before I started pulling all-nighters for exams), I don't know because I don't wear white clothes often.
My favourite weddings are some I saw on etiquettehell.com. Apparently there was a couple who were married in the family-owned grocery store, in full traditional wedding regalia, with the bride's mother sitting at the counter and continuing to conduct business throughout the whole ceremony. And another; "It was at the local courthouse, they stopped on the way there to buy milk and bread, and they wore regular clothes, the groom in jeans." Well, it's a lot less fuss than the usual way ... I think, if I get married, I'll deliberately try to make my wedding so horrifying someone sends it to etiquettehell.com.

Snap! I wear a Q and a half ring; my engagement ring had to be resized cos I couldn't even get it over my knuckle :)
And it's white gold ... because while I prefer silver, I also have the mystical power to turn it black within a day. I am constantly cleaning my silver jewellery, and The Boy, bless him, figured I'd rather a white gold ring. Clever boy. The wedding ring will probably be white gold too. Looks like silver, but I can't tarnish it.
Srsly, if I were a Marvelverse mutant, my power would be the ability to corrode metal. I also manage to turn copper and bronze green within hours, and to erode electroplate so that the nickel comes off and then whatever it was underneath starts going green too. Apparently it's the pH of my skin. Go figure.
Most of my jewelery (and I don't have much) is sterling silver or steel, and I tend to turn it all red - oxidisation, I guess. It takes a few weeks, months if I'm lucky, but the inside of my watch is all red, and all the chains of my necklaces wear away to red eventually, too.
*ponders* So what would we call the Marvelverse Trojie? You need to have a superhero name, you know. ;p
Freaky about the ring size, but then again, from that picture of yourself you posted a while ago, I'd say we have pretty similar builds anyway, so it's not too surprising. Still amusing, though. Someday I'll send my non-existant fiance-to-be uo north to trade ring tips with Your Boy. Should be delightful. ;p
White gold... I don't think I've ever actually handled the stuff, so I can't say if I like it. Frankly, I'd be happy with steel, or anything else that will last, but that's not too romantic sounding.

White gold looks pretty close to silver; there's not a lot to choose between them other than it's a bit more expensive and it doesn't tarnish. So it suits me riiiiight down to the ground!
