I'll politely tell everyone going down my throat to sod off, then. I wanted to make sure I hadn't unknowingly broken some rule of RPG before I did.

In regards to my last post about getting chewed for my RPG comment, the Oxford/Oxfordshire mistake was made in an RPG post my character had no involvement in. Again, I made my comment in an OOC area, not in response to the actual RPG post itself, and I can't understand why people are acting like I stepped way over some line. Was I out of line or are they being uptight? I'm new to RPG, at least the way these people are going about it.
You're better off without them. Honestly, I've dealt with their type before, and they're just a needless source of stress. They take their little forum fiefdoms far too seriously. They have all the charm (and the cranio-rectal inversion) of a particularly uptight homeowner's association. Life is too short to deal with that kind of asshats.
None of this involves the person running the RPG and she hasn't said anything so the uptight twits can go twist the sticks they have up their rear ends a little bit deeper for all I care. Besides, it might serve the RPG well that they don't like me much. It'll help them get into character. Well, most of them. ;p It's a Doctor Who RPG and I'm doing River Song. One of the twits is doing the Master and another is doing an incarnation of Rose (I forget which version). The person I 'insulted' is, IIRC, the Tenth Doctor. *shrugs* Whatever. He's not supposed to much trust River in the beginning, anyway, and she's certainly not one to care what anyone else thinks, though I'll have to pretend to care in this case. *makes gagging motions*
RP is like writing, as far as I'm concerned. People fall into the same traps as fanfic writers--it's just a role-play, it's not important, it's just for fun, so I can do whatever I want. My guess is that they took your comment as an infringement on fun and/or a personal insult and ran with it.
~Neshomeh, who has seen a lot of dumb stuff in RP settings.
I tried to go and reply to the uptight person shrieking "You mean the RP post that's not in this thread? The one she had already posted? The one that she's doing with somebody else? The one that you have nothing to do with?" and I can't get to it. At all. I'm not allowed to access it. I go to the RP player's page where I made the comment and the entry has myseriously vanished. It's been locked off to me, it seems. *rolls eyes* S'okay. They want to kick me out of their uptight little shit, whatever.
Wow, that's not a nice RP site. This is why I like RPing on Landel's Damned. You wouldn't get chewed out for correcting that mistake there. You'd get thanked very kindly for your concern, no sarcasm at all.
Anyways, I personally would have only been polite the first time. Then I'd would have gotten all, Okay, be wrong for your entire life and look like an idiot. Not my place to help you prevent that fate. Then again that's because the only two RP sites I've been proficient on are either A) full of Mary-Sues that need smiting or B) would never have that issue.
...actually, I just can't help provoking the uptight like that. Look at me, I'm rambling. Anyways, that's an immature reaction to the situation, ESPECIALLY if you have been making a point of being nice about it.
I wasn't rude at all about it. The closest I came to being rude and snarky was my response to one person that I'd been to Oxford and unless there was a part of the city I'd missed, her description of nothing in sight but hills and green didn't fit Oxford, it was Oxfordshire, which Oxford is in.
I would've told them plainly and politely to sod off; it was a PUBLIC post and I'd made a comment OOC so whoever has a problem can take a long walk off a short cliff.
It's good that your first response was civil. That gives them a chance to be civil as well, or, as it seems, to chew you out for 'criticizing' another player. Then, by all means, chew them out. Unfortunately, it looks like they're not going to let you. Seems cowardly to me, accusing you of something then preventing you from defending yourself.
