What are they?
...thanks for the input, guys!
I just saw Mini-Xerxes in my mind.
Mini-Immortals.
Mini-Spartas.
Mini-phalanxes.
Mini-Persian emissaries (complete with mini-madness).
Mini-Spartans.
Mini-bees (THEN WE SHALL HUG IN THE SHADE!).
Just like we have minis for Egyptian Myths? The Battle of Thermopylae was a very popular myth in Ancient Greece, and that's all 300 is an adaption of. So, maybe mini-Pegasae? Or mini-Cerberus?
300 is a standalone canon, as many things were introduced into the (very much true) story in order to make it a modern myth. And it was written by Frank Miller, not Homer or any of that lot. So I don't think it would be the same mini as for Greek Legends.
The Battle of Thermopylae was true enough, it's just that many societies in Greek, particularly the Spartans, exaggerated the story afterwards, often stetching the number of people involved to make the Greeks look better. Eventally it became a legend to the Greeks, which means it has a core of truth to it. However, because the events were so vastly exaggerated, it became one of Greece's mainstream war myths.
Until almost no historical accuracy remains. It's been distorted so much that I don't think we can really count it as belonging to the same canon as the original story.
I only watched about five minutes of the film, and that bit had the gigantic freaking bizarre rhinos rampaging around the battlefield. So um. Yeah.
