I've been without an net-connected laptop for some time, so I can't speak to the seaworthiness of the channel, but if it's the 'Board link that's glitching, there are ways around it. I recommend going to http://chat.mibbit.com/ and typing in irc.sorcery.net for server, and #PPC for channel. That's how I almost always log in.
Whenever I try to get on chat, it completely bugs out and won't log me on two days later. Is this happening to anyone else? Does anyone know how to fix it? I'm completely puzzled.
