I'd completely forgotten that GND existed, so naturally, that was my excuse for a marathon.
I just spent about four hours, give or take, catching up.
I also have to wake up in seven hours. I blame you! :P
(I kid; I'm actually quite glad that I remember that it exists now because I was very fond of it when I first read it and I am still very fond of it, it seems!)

Anyone else has some favourite fanart that you would like to share?
Pika, of course, is most famous in this corner of the internet for her OFUM fanart. Elves in Black Leather? That was her. (And yes, there's a PPC image in there, too...)
She also has a very small Tolkien gallery, but recently, I read her ongoing comic, Girls Next Door. It's a crossover of... well, practically everything! Orli!Legolas is in there, but most of the main cast are Labyrinth, Phantom of the Opera, and Les Miserables. It's rather silly, but fun.
And Jareth looks pretty darn cool.
("So, hS, do you prefer 'Girls Next Door', or the original 'Roommates' it's a spinoff of?" Don't ask me that. :P Just read both of them. I will say I really liked 'Roommates' recent 'Kings War' arc, but that I often prefer the fluffier nature of GND... anyway, moving on)

I rediscovered GND about six months ago. I'm a big fan of both her art style -- she moves so easily between cartoony and serious -- and the story lines she creates. The light-heartedness of it (most of the time anyway) appeals to me a bit more than the original 'Roommates' does.

Well, not personally. But I know her fanart from when I first read OFUM. And I follow Girls Next Door. And when I say 'follow' I of course mean 'check the page every single day, sometimes more than once, to see if there's an update'. I absolutely love it. :D
Closer to stained glass than anything else, I think (so, anyone up to building a Cathedral of Tolkien? :D) Really pretty, though, and I could figure out all the vignettes in the Luthien & Beren image.
I also found the most hilarious image in her(?) gallery: Mount Doom. Smeagol is a hamster, precious!

Gold Seven: has gorgeous watercolors from Tolkien, favoring scenes from the Silmarillion, A Song of Ice and Fire and Harry Potter. Her Inkheart stuff is mostly older work.
Windmaedchen: has some of the most adorable Sherlock Holmes art and little comics I've ever seen.
Shoomlah draws a range of things, but historically correct costume re-imaginings for disney princesses and Myst fanart are my favorites.
Oh, I remember seeing those Disney princesses around the web. They're gorgeous.
I'll be checking out the rest of the links. Looks really interesting.
I'm sure she used to use a different name... anyway, she pretty much defined the visuals of the Silmarillion for me. I have particular memories of Fields of Gold and, of course, Maglor, but honestly, even the Coming of Fingolfin stuck in my head. And there's stuff here I haven't seen before... ye Valar, I could list them forever. I'll stop with just the Descendants of Thingol, some Valar, and this diptych.

Speaking of Silm art, there's this person who does these fantastic pieces where they use actually text from the book to make the pictures. It's beautiful.

I love those. They are not just beautiful, they're very unusual.
Most of them are near-impossible to read (though I had good luck with Varda, but even so, that's incredibly cool.
And goes to show how changing the 'medium' affects an art style. Those stylised bodies work well in this style, but I'm really not that taken with her more 'realistic' work. There's something off about the women's body shapes - not to mention that Luthien is either naked or wearing lycra!
