Mini-Turbos could work.
I'm working on two fics where I intend to leave the minis undescribed, but I'd like some ideas of what they might be so that I know what I'm not describing.
For the Sly Cooper series, I'm thinking of non-anthro racoons.
For Wreck-It Ralph, I'm thinking something to do with the game they come from. I'm working in a fic where Sugar Rush is isolated.
They cause chaos, just the way minis are supposed to. *evil grin*
Hmmm, that sounds good, since they can also have themes based on who they're supposed to be.
Only problem is how to tell it from a cy-bug that is supposed to be there. Feeding them random junk to see if they become something else seems reckless, and a CAF might get mistaken for a mini.
Maybe they could come with nametags.
I suppose you could tell them from the real thing simply by their size, since IIRC movie cy-bugs are about human-sized or larger and minis tend to be about on the same level as a medium dog?
Actually, without the nametag, there is an opportunity for humor.
With that slight chance of finding a CAF that looks just like a mini-cy-bug and accidentally mistaking it for the mini... I don't know what the joke would be. Maybe "we already have a Vanelope"
Would cybug be the one cy-bug that does turn into bacon?
I mean, cy-bugs have to come from somewhere, so there could be smaller ones (potentially many) in the form of "babies" or some smaller size class in addition to human-sized ones, so I think there's sufficient situational wiggle-room to have either ambiguous or unambiguous CB minis.
The whole purpose of a Cy-bug is to eat and reproduce, right? Considering all the yummy new tech and whatnot at HQ, even a mini Cy-bug could be problematic. Maybe the minis are miniatures of the characters/whatever, but with the occasional glitch, much like Vanellope has in-canon?
I guess saying that minis only look like Cy-bugs would be lazy. (Don't breed and don't turn into what they eat.)
And goodness knows we might end up with a CAF that isn't harmless and I do not want to set up an emergency.
Mini-quarters, mini-Turbos...
Mini-glitches might be cool. Might be one of the few minis that eats junkfood instead of bacon.
For the Sly Cooper series, I'd vote for mini-Clockwerks, simply because I for one would love to see tiny, evil-dispositioned robotic owls take down a Sue.
