Technically, all you need to do is find a fantasy book translated into French... Otherwise.... I have no clue.

I have to keep up my French somehow, and I'd prefer to do it while doing something I enjoy, i.e. reading fantasy. So yeah, recs. Please?
-Aila, thanking you preemptively
...Have you heard of Wakfu? It's a french flash cartoon. It's based off their flash MMO games but it's still fantasy... and french!

And if you find them some other way *ahem*, there are ways to turn off the subtitles...

Atlantida. It's about two officers stranded in the Sahara who stumble upon something that they wish they hadn't.
While we are on the subject of finding stuff to read, does anyone have any Evil Dead badfics in mind?
(Say, is that a Cthulhu mythos story? By the description, it sort of sounds like one, but for all I know I could be way wrong.)
-Aila
I don't think it is. I could be wrong, but I have read some of his stories, like Rats in the Walls and Cthuhlu, but this one probably isn't.
I realise you may well have already read it in English, but if not, you've no excuse for not reading it in French. ;)
(So is it fantasy or sci-fi? I'm going to say the former, because there's no actual science involved, despite the 'space' theme)

Must find my copy. Somewhere. It probably doesn't exist anymore. Bleh.
Thanks!

...I'd recommend reading Jules Verne's novels, especially Vingt mille lieues sous les mers and L'île mystérieuse (in that order!). Also worth reading is De la Terre à la Lune because big freakin' guns shooting stuff into space is way cool.
I had no idea that Jules Verne was French!
Also, Aila, if all you're seeking to do is bone up on your French, why not pen-pal with someone in French? Tu sais déjà qu'il y a des gens, même en ce forum, qui parlent français.
And besides, literature may not be the best way to go, as there are usages like the passé simple that are present in writing, but not in modern conversational French.
(And if I offend with the above, I hereby apologize. No offense is meant.)
Ouais, je le savait--c'était pour cette raison là que j'ai demandé des recommandations ici, au lieu de chercher l'Internet. Mais je considererai cette idée.
(Well, yes, but I like reading, which means I'm more likely to actually do it. I am, in general, a very lazy person. But thanks!)
-Aila
Thanks!

Knowing me, I'd make sure to read it in English first, which is exactly what I'm trying to avoid.
Thanks anyways!
