I'm assuming I'm doing this whole introduction thing right by just making a thread for it. I tried to check the Wiki and stuff to make sure, but couldn't find a definite yes or no.
So, yeah. Hi. My name is Xortberg, and I only recently found out the PPC was even a thing. As a perpetually grumpy anime fanboy who enjoys criticizing things, I feel as though the PPC was calling out to my very soul, so I'm currently reading up on the Original Series and various pages on the Wiki so that when I get around to asking for permission to write, I'll hopefully be fully prepared.
Hmm... I really dig anime, as made evident in the above paragraph, so that's what I'll be most eager to talk about. I do have other interests, though! Like games. Or maybe some books, though with my massive, ever-growing list of anime I need to watch (which is literally impossible for me to make progress on, since every one I cross of the list makes way for three new shows that strike my fancy) means I don't often get around to reading all the things I should. I also like tabletop games like D&D and other such shenanigans, even though I've never gotten a chance to actually play any for any serious length of time.
I could probably ramble on about pointless things until I hit the 16 KB limit for text here, but I'll spare you guys the wall of text. If you wanna know anything else, I'll answer absolutely any questions.
Welcome! Here, have a bar of Bleepolate. Not sure about the Board? Check out these links:

Hey! Another Anime fan! *High-fives* What are some animes on your list?
For your gift, I give you a bled-colored pencil. It works, but don't look at it.
Also, I give you a link to Icarus by Bastille.

Enjoy the PPC!

I have ENTIRELY too many anime on my list to just pick a few out. Quite a few guilty pleasures, too, so don't judge me too harshly XD
But my current top three, just for the sake of giving a proper answer, are Gurren Lagann, Madoka Magica, and the -monogatari series. I also have an irrational hatred for several popular anime, like Attack on Titan, Clannad, Angel Beats, and Anohana. So I suppose that's a rough approximation of either extreme on my list.
I haven't heard of the -monogatari series. (Or is it more commonly referred as a different name?) Is it good?
Bakemonogatari, Nisemonogatari, Nekomonogatari Kuro (a 4 episode sort-of-movie), and now the strangely named Monogatari Series Second Season (despite it being the third full season).
And yeah, it's hella good. Really weird, though. I mean REALLY weird. But it's got a lot of great dialogue, really cool environments, and some wonderful music. There's a bit of action, but most of the appeal is in the dialogue and presentation. I pretty much wholeheartedly recommend it.
Okay, then... first time I've ever given a newbie gift... what to give, what to give...
Aha!
I grant thee a sharpie that writes in urple ink, perfect for when you want to punish someone for reading what you write!
Please excuse my previous post; I had clicked the wrong button.
Welcome to the PPC! I see that you've already started reading the Original Series, and I would love to see what kinds of things you'd do!
An anime fanboy, eh? Are Pokemon and Bakugan Battle Brawlers among your fandoms? I'm actually working on a crossover with the two, and any reviews/concrit would be greatly welcome!
But enough about me; your newbie gift awaits! So...
*rummages through Pokemon-Trainer-issue bag of holding*
Here, have a replica Keyblade! It's completely plastic, so don't expect it to have any magical powers at all! (Though I still cannot explain for the life of me why shapes show up when I bonk people over the head with it...)
Yaaaay, Keyblade! Kingdom Hearts used to be my fandom of choice, so this pleases me.
Unfortunately, I've never gotten around to watching any Bakugan stuff (though it is on the list!), so I'd be hella lost. Perhaps I can make it my next priority, though. As for Pokemon, I really dig the world, but I absolutely hate Ash so I never watch the anime. Did watch that Pokemon Origins stuff, though, which was pretty freakin sweet.
since my crossover has a Bakugan character enter Kanto. Actually, since you've never watched Bakugan, you might be the perfect person to ask to take a look at the chapters I've already posted.
Here's a link to my fic. I know that I've used mainly secondary characters (I did that on purpose), but does it look like I've kept them in character? In other words, do they act realistically given the circumstances? (And anyone who has seen one but not the other (I know that I'm not the only Pokemaniac out here), do the opening chapters get you lost in Bakugan terminology, or can you follow the plot well enough? Any suggestions for attracting Pokemon fans who may not have seen the Bakugan series?
In case you get lost by some of the Bakugan terminology, here's a link to the Bakugan Wiki.
especially since he ALMOST NEVER wins a League Tournament, and they don't ever let him grow up! There was actually a post on this board not too long *cough*startedbyyourstruly*cough* ago discussing whether Ash was a Canon Stu. Yet I still follow the anime.
I also follow the games; I am currently going through Pokemon X. Do you have a 6th gen game? Which one? How many badges do you have now?
About Pokemon Origins, yeah, it is pretty sweet. My brother, who stopped watching the Pokemon anime, says that Origins is what the Pokemon anime SHOULD have been like. I'm inclined to agree.
I would absolutely love to have Pokemon X, but I don't have a 3DS and lack the funds to get one. Woe is me. I'd definitely go with X over Y, because Xerneas reminds me of the Deer God from Princess Mononoke.
And that's true. Origins NEEDS to be expanded on. Hell, they don't even have to ditch the cash cow anime they have right now. Just, give us something else. A full series in the style of Origins, or maybe an adaptation of the manga. Just please GIVE US SOMETHING THAT DOESN'T INCLUDE ASH
Oooh, a fellow D&D player? That makes me gleeful. :D I've been playing for about three years now, it's great. I hope you find a game you can stay in!
Have a bag of pebbles and a Random Shiny Object, and do stick around!
Yeah, I've taken part in a few campaigns, but none of them ever actually went past the five-game point. So I've got quite a bit of practice at character creation, but not much else XD
So, I'm 99Hedgehog, but just call me 99. I'm sure we'll all get along brilliantly.
Although, I do have a friend alot like you...
...anyway, welcome! We won't bite. Have a bolter!

Nice to meet you, 99!
Greetings and welcome!
On another note, I solemnly give to you one of my someday-to-be-patented lined Infinite Notebooks, complete with urple covers and wilver binding. (The tag says that I'm not responsible for any injuries to eyes that occur due to this gift, by the by.)

It looks like you've checked over the Wiki and such already, so no need to point you to it, then. Have you read the spin-offs yet? Which one did you find first? Do you have a favorite?
Oh, and your gift! Let's see. Well, it looks as though you're a D&D fan, so... ah, there it is! Take a silver clockwork horror, straight from the crystal spheres of Spelljammer! I've been looking for an excuse to hand off part of my prodigious collection of spider robots to the new arrivals. Just don't let the little guy near anything it can disassemble and rebuild into more clockwork horrors. That sort of situation quickly gets out of hand.
Aww, you shouldn't have! I've always wanted a pet, but cats are too snooty and spastic, and dogs bark too much. But a creepy clockwork spider-thing? Just perfect :)
No spinoffs yet. I'm on mission 23 of the Original Series right now, so I'll be looking at the other stuff after I read that stuff.
I can see us getting along nicely.
Ah, then there is still so much for you to explore. Beware, a lot of the spin-offs only have one or two missions before they cease entirely. Luckily, most of those that, at least in my opinion, are really good ones, have a sizable number of missions and interludes and the like, so you can see the more interesting characters in a much wider range of situations. Win-win. I would give a list of my personal spin-off recommendations, but a lot of my favorite PPC writers are still active(One even posted in this thread already. Hi, Herr Wozzeck!), so making that list would be a little awkward.
At least, it would be awkward for me. The other writers might not feel the same way about it.
In that case, perhaps I'll look into Wozzeck's work once I finish the OS. He seems like a pretty cool guy. And yeah, it always sucks getting into something only to have it end abruptly. I've had that happen with plenty of awesome fics I was following in the past, and it always just makes me really sad.
May I suggest Shire Folk's KH fanfic "The Annals of Darkness"? At three parts and growing, it is currently longer than the entire LoTR book series (which the author is also a fan of--hence the name)--at least, so the author says. Here's the URL to part one: http://www.fanfiction.net/s/5744051/1/The-Annals-of-Darkness-The-Beginning-v-II
Sweet. I'll give it a look-see when I'm feeling less lazy.
Good to see a new newbie.

Urple? My poor, poor eyes >_
Welcome to the PPC! We love newbies here, so take your shoes off, leave your sanity at the door, and come right in!
But yeah, seriously, come on in. What exact fandoms are you into? And... well, I hope you don't mind my asking, but what's up with the username? It's kinda... innovative. In a great way!
Hm... As a welcome gift, I'll go ahead and gift you some music by Pierre Boulez. Enjoy: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvWBiox8Hd8
Yeah, there's a bit of history behind the name. I was just Xort for a while, which was inspired by some silly Kingdom Hearts parody video or something. I forget the details. Then, there was this really big argument going down on a forum I frequented, and I was on a Futurama kick, so I had someone change my name to Xortberg and changed my avatar to an angry Zoidberg picture. The whole argument got derailed by people commenting on it, and it stuck XD
As for fandoms I'm into, I'm not really big into any at the moment. I used to be WAAAAY into Kingdom Hearts, and even wrote some preeeetty bad fics of my own back in the day. Then I had a Digimon phase, but since then I haven't really settled. Maybe I'll find my place as I look for badfics to write about in the future.
Damn, I wish my username had that epic a backstory going for it. But instead, it's an opera reference. Fun times, y'know?
Hey, don't feel too bad about your bad Kingdom Hearts fics. I'm currently working on MSTing a terrible, terrible, terrible fanfic I wrote back when I was 17 and an idiot, and reading it now I can only say "dear God, Herr, what were you thinking". Really, a lot of us here at the PPC have our share of old shames. You'll fit right in! =D
Hm... You say you're into anime, right? Hast thou seen Puella Magi Madoka Magica?
Please explain, Herr.
You can find more information about it here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wozzeck
Madoka, Madoka, Madoka. Many, many manly tears were shed. I actually had no idea what I was getting into when I started it. I was just looking for a typical magical girl anime, because I was curious to see if they were all as bad as Sailor Moon, and the image I saw for Madoka looked cute. Figured it'd be, at worst, just a mindless little adventure following cute anime girls fighting evil with the Powers of Love and Friendship.
Oh how wrong I was.
I actually marathoned the entire series about a month or two back. I swear, it is one of the best things I have ever seen in any media whatsoever. Just... Holy Christ. I was literally crying in the last episode, and if you know my media-watching habits it is very difficult to get me to cry at a piece of media.
I've watched it like, five times now. Once for the initial viewing, three times because I convinced friends to watch it and used that as an excuse to watch it again, and then one more time just because.
I can say, with absolute sincerity: i crai evertim. And not just tearing up and getting a little hiccupy. I am talking inelegant blubbering to the extreme. Red, swollen eyes, snot all over, the works.
Absolutely can't wait for the movie sequel to come out.
