I am rather new here, and barely write any fanfiction. In all honesty, I usually write stuff at the Alternate History Discussion Board, where the fiction is about real life history. I must applaud your efforts at killing the Mary Sues.

Hi there, and welcome to the PPC! How did you run across us?
Well, as you've heard already, it's customary for newbies to get gifts, so...

have a Celebi! This time-traveling Pokemon is perfect for someone interested in history. Just make sure not to cause too much trouble out there! -

Hello mikelima!
I have never heard of a board that writes fiction based off of history...My friend writes those. Maybe I can get her to look at your board.
Anyway, here's a canteen of Alert Juice to keep you awake during the darkest hours! -

You're a rather interesting writer, mikelima. Very knowledgable about history, if I may add. In fact, I have rarely seen fanfic writers writing about your...er...*fandom*. (Is that the appropriate term?) But then, I'm rather new (and young) myself.
Here, have a copy of Sun Tze's The Art of War unless...you already have it? If you do, here's an extra crate of Bleepka. Enjoy!

It looks like we have a potential catastrophe here! We have a mini-Sun Tzu running about! If he manages to recruit enough of the other minis...

Hi, have some fudge!
I tried to get involved in the Alternate History board, but that was one of the logins that were eaten when I had a laptop crash. I should see if they still have me listed over there at some point. -

But thanks to our newbie, I just started reading OFUATLA, and I have to say, I (mainly) like what I see.
(I say mainly because of two foreign-language errors: a Spanish error in Chapter 12, and a Latin error in chapter 14, but they have not detracted from my want for a new chapter.) -

Actually, I first heard about the PPC from your Avatar TLA OFU.
As someone who honestly haven't watch the show, it sure is entertaining watching the horror that are the fangirls. -

Welcome, welcome!
It is required that you read The Constitution, as it is That Which Governs Our Interactions here; The Original Series is also a recommended read, and, as Outhra noted, we have a shiny Wiki, too.
That said, have a cup of good Darjeeling tea, coming straight from a still-British India. Just don't let the leaves eat you. -

Well, regardless of your writing output, it's always nice to see new arrivals!
Do you have any other fandoms? Have you read any spin-offs? What about the the wiki? Have you been there yet?
As you may or may not know, it's tradition here to give newbies a gift when they first arrive. In appreciation of your alternate timeline sensibilities, have a jet pack salvaged from a sapient coelophysid! Don't ask what the point of divergence was in that time stream; I'm still trying to work it out myself. It probably had something to do with a delay of the Permian extinction event that I picked up, but I'm still working out the details. Causality derivatives are hard for me to measure. -

I tend to read mostly stuff based on World War II up to the present day.
As an example of WWII-based alternate history, this is the Anglo/American Nazi War, by Calbear:
