So, in a little bit more than a week, it's the Emerald City Comic Con once again! Are other people in the area / out of the area planning on attending?
VM, Nifar, Rosie, and I are doing a Girl Genius cosplay for one of the days!
It's nowhere near North California, right?

*Disclaimer: VM is from New England, where state boundaries are a matter of 30-90 minutes. This may or may not effect descriptions of "distance" in the Pacific Northwest, as such.
It's in Seattle! So, if you're able to get up that-away, since it's not all that far from Northern California...
Hmm... Bit of a drive, but I think we might have relatives in Washington who wouldn't mind the visit...
Being British, I subconsciously translate that 'state' nonsense as 'county'.
The largest county of any description over here is Yorkshire. It is significantly smaller than Connecticut - which is #48 on a list of state sizes. You could fit Yorkshire into California more than thirty times.
As for my own current home county... yeah, smaller than Rhode Island. So you can imagine how shocked my subconscious gets when I visit America and discover the airport is 'only' the length of England away from our destination...

I'm from Canada, which is really big. Except for the Maritime provinces. It takes upwards of six hours to drive a quarter way across my home province!
(There's actually a song about that, appropriately enough called "Canada is Really Big")
Israel is small. I takes about a day to travel from its northernmost edge to its southernmost edge, and a few hours to travel from its western edge to its eastern edge. We don't have counties here - they'd be a bit larger than Rhode Island's. A bit.
Wait, what?
First of all, well met, fellow Canadian! What province do you hail from, if you don't mind my asking?
Second--there's an Israeli in the PPC? (Besides me, I mean. And I'm technically just back for the year after having been gone for...a while.) I didn't know that! This is awesome! Hi! How are you? Why did I not know that there was someone else on the same timezone as me? Hi!
(Yup. This is me being excited. Duck and cover).
*bounces around in glee. Yes. Glee. Without the drama and singing, though.*
Hi, you guys!

Kingston-ish, to be exact. You should hang out in the chat! There's even more of us there!
But different city/town/thing. My experience of Kingston is visiting relatives who live there and have a nearby cottage.
Which chat is this? The IRC?
Yay Canadians!

Well, okay, maybe not Rhode Island. The counties would be like a meter each if they wanted more than two.
I find, when thinking in terms of distance, it helps to think of US states as countries instead. Just, y'know, countries that don't have border checks. Usually.
It even sort of works. I mean, my home state of Georgia is like half the size of France.
I did say subconsciously.
