Soul Savior
Canon: Soul Calibur
Author: Thaeonblade- As the battle between the children of Sophitia approaches the climax, Siegfried now comes face to face with a terrible oversight in choosing Soul Calibur's newest wielder as his mistake gives birth to an evil far greater than anyone could have imagined. Starts from chapter 16 of SC V's story mode/new soul blade/appearances by past, missing or ignored characters.
Rating: T

My Thoughts: This looks like it has a pretty interesting premise: Patroklos becoming the villain of the story. There are some punctuation issues at the beginning of the story, but the author, Thaeonblade, has improved. However, I have a few issues with it, such as the gratuitous, but brief, sex scene between Patroklos and Tira in one of the early chapters(...this is rated T, right?), some of the characters popping out of nowhere, and fights that are just about to start before we get to the next scene.
While I find some of the things he'd added in such as a bit of world history onto the Soul Calibur universe, I couldn't help myself if he would've made it more interesting had he take a look at the New Legion of Souls Project artbook. It had some pretty interesting ideas in it.
My favorite moment in this fic is the beginning of the tenth chapter. Great way to draw in the reader, if you ask me. I'll quote it here:
To an outside observer, it would appear as though Hungary was overcome by civil war.
Hungarian, Holy Roman and Ottoman soldiers all fought across the region intent on leaving no quarter. Fields were razed to keep the enemy from using the grain, civilians were forcefully recruited or brutalized, caravans were raided for anything of worth and city upon city was burned in the blaze of war. No area within this captaincy of the kingdom was left untouched, a fitting metaphor for the war that was fought for the soil of Hungary.
Or so it appeared.
To anyone who had true knowledge of this conflict, they would know that the true war did not wage for the kingdom of Hungary, but for the souls of it's people.
What is believed to be a civil war was in truth a slaughter.
When Holy Roman and Ottoman reinforcements arrived to quell the apparent unrest spread by the "malfestation" of Graf Dumas' uprising, they expected to face nothing than spears held by mortal men.
Instead they faced fearless and even maddened yet completely synchronized soldiers led by Graf Dumas' successor. A young man who was believed to have been one of the Graf's holy warriors before he overthrew his master. Now the boy openly claimed the Graf's lands and desired to control of the two empires to the west and south of Hungary.
At least as a start.
His armies were further led by warriors and monsters of remarkable power and recognition. Often entire platoons fled at the sight of Azure Knight despite confirmation of his death 17 years ago or from the large golem wielding an ax that could clove through the walls of a fortified castle with little effort or the flexible monster that was rumored to have once guarded Vercci's Tomb. Sometimes, officers would be found slain in their tents with naught but a black feather left upon their ritualistically defiled corpse.
My verdict: Interesting premise, could do if more polished
Project New America
Canon: Fallout 3/Fullmetal Alchemist
Author: GhoulTastic
Note: For whatever reason, GhoulTastic has taken down the story. I'll try my best to recall what I know about this good fic.
Premise: Basically, the Brotherhood of Steel in the Capital Wasteland discovered pods that allow people to travel to other universes. The main character (can't remember his name) volunteers and enters his own pod, which made him end up in the FMA universe. Some hijinks ensure and the Enclave gets involved.
My thoughts: Better than it sounds. This used to be one of my favorite fics out there a few years ago before it was taken down. The main character's bit of a badass, but a bit overpowered (has a longcoat that allows him to conceal his weapons) and has an artificial arm.
My verdict: I would recommend you read it, but it's down. I've asked the author if he would send the fic to me.
