I'm currently rewatching them, and I had a thought.

The entire plot would not have occurred if Governor Swann hadn't gotten Elizabeth a corset.

Other than that, a long time ago, I had an idea for a fic. It's not my type of fic, though, so I thought I'd post it on here for other people to write/play with/twist/whatever else.

So, when Port Royal is attacked by the Black Pearl under Barbossa, and the governor's mansion is invaded, the butler is killed. Not much attention is payed to this— Pintel says a single line, Elizabeth screams, the butler falls and is never mentioned again. That's all.

But what about when Elizabeth was growing up? It's entirely possible that the butler came with the Swanns from England, and that Elizabeth grew up with him as a fixture in the household. That adds a whole new dimension to his death. After all, he could have been anything from Elizabeth's tutor to an uncle figure to one of her closest friends.

My idea is rather shadowy- snapshots of Elizabeth's childhood, perhaps mixed with her thoughts and feelings as the butler dies. Anywho, anyone who wants can noodle with it, though I wouldn't mind credit for the idea, or being linked to the fic. :)
