I, too, have been watching it recently. And it is amazing. I cannot recommend this series enough, if you are not easily offended.
I think my favorite character would have to be Alexander Anderson. Love that crazy Irish catholic bastard. -

Because of how he rolls his /r/. That's the main difference between Irish and Scottish accents.
Nonetheless, he is awesome, especially in episode 5. I could probably collect an entire book of quotes from these episodes.
