A wild Lily has appeared! What's this? There's Middle-earth things in the air!
First and foremost my absence can be attributed to me being overworked at school, plus getting thrown head-first into the Hobbit side of Tolkien fandom (and very solidly thumping onto the deck of the Good Ship Bagginshield. Please don't ask. There are acorns in my eyes). But I've returned! However temporarily! And I may wander off again but before I do have some links!
-deep breath-
I'm currently (in cahoots with another writer in the Hobbit fandom) working on a blog of the Quest for Erebor in real time. Yes. Daily updates from Bilbo Baggins and Thorin Oakenshield about what they're doing. No idea how everything else in Middle-earth exists as-is with the exception of the sudden presence of blogs and the internet, but I reckon they just kinda scream into the void or write in enchanted diaries or something. Bear with me.
I'm plugging it here because 1) who doesn't want an in-depth and detailed look at Middle-earth during the time of the Quest for Erebor? 2) because DawnFire thought it'd be fun and 3) there are TOS jokes and cameos of some of the Eldar characters I've made up.
You can read Bilbo's blog here, and Thorin's here.
And secondly, I'm also here to rec a potential Legendary Goodfic, if you haven't already heard of it. It's called Sansûkh, rated T, and the premise of the fic in four words is Dead Dwarf Peanut Gallery.
Basically, Thorin wakes up after the Battle of Five Armies in the halls of his Maker, where his ancestors and family and all the other dead Dwarves have been watching him with his own quest, and he gains the ability to communicate subconsciously with the world of the living. Cue Thorin ghost-stalking the events of Lord of the Rings. There is Legolas/Gimli and Thorin/Bilbo, but it's all extremely slowly developed and canon-compliant. Very. Very canon compliant. Because the author has found a way of weaving her narrative, the film's narrative, and the book all together in one cohesive whole. And the extra worldbuilding for the Dwarves is amazing.
I really hope someone else will second my nomination to give this amazing fic the status of Legendary Goodfic.
So other than that, what have the rest of you been up to? -

I just got to the part where Gandalf fends off the Balrog. Just as awesome as I remember from the book and movie. :D
I'm also taking a screenwriting class, which is busy but fun and informative. :) -
