I actually attend a lot of cons. I live in a larger city so there tends to be three or four big cons a summer.
I have also sold art at a con before. My next con is coming up in June and I've not had time to prepare. Oh well, AP testing comes first unfortunately...
I've been to Botcon twice and a Lego convention once.
My dad and I actually have posters for the first Bayformers movie, signed by Peter Cullen himself. I also saw a full-size recreation of Frenzy (in his robot mode) from the first movie.
As for the Lego con... the best part was that I went there with my best friend.
I've only been to one convention (the same one Iximaz mentioned, incidentally enough!) and it was a blast. I went with my sister and her husband, and we had just enough time to make some basic costumes. I went as Inspector Gadget, my sister went as Carmen Sandiego, and my brother-in-law was Waldo. As it turns out, Insepctor Gadget had a MUCH larger fan base than I expected, and people kept wanting to hug me or take pictures every few feet or so. We were able to get into the Karen Gillian panel just before it filled up, so that was pretty cool as well. The whole thing was tiring, but in a good way! I would love to go to another one sometime.
It was ok. But looking at that machine made entirely out of lego mindstorms made to move the balls around was cool!
Wonderful, now I think I'm talking a new language called "OrangeYoshi just woke up and fails to use the shift key and is incredibly nonspecific."
Yesterday, a guy was wearing an entire Iron Man Hulkbuster Armour :D

Seriously, so much effort must go into some of the costumes I see (online, of course; I've never actually been to a convention). They are absolutely jaw-dropping.
One friend of mine does 3D models for her friend's cosplays and has been working for at least a year, trying to recreate all the RWBY cast's weapons, even going through the effort to make them convertible! Absolutely amazing. I have to go see one of these conventions for myself one day.
