In 1983 there was apparently a computer game, a text adventure, called "Galadriel in Distress".
The plot: "King Theoden's daughter, the princess Galadriel has been abducted by the evil sorcerer Grima."
Let's hope this was totally unauthorised... -

And yes, I was unfortunate enough to run into those myself thanks to the Smash Bros. fandom. Anyway - Gah! A stray ypur! And a herd of a hundred more are stampeding this way! BRB, running for my life!

*gasp, pant* Okay, where was I? Oh, yeah. When I saw that the villain's name was Grima, the first thing I thought about, honestly, was Robin kidnapping and holding Galadriel hostage. For some reason. Is that a bad thing?
...yeah. That's a bad thing. I guess. XD -
If It Was Done Well, That Could Be a Cool Crossover by

Both franchises usually focus on a plucky band of misfit adventurers who follow some manner of royalty as they gallivant about saving the world in a fantasy setting, so it could theoretically work.

Is the game even anything like the Lord of the Rings? Or is it just the names?

... for slapping LotR/Middle-earth names into fantasy games, back in the days when all games were text. Angband is another example; you crawl through a dungeon and occasionally encounter Tolkien characters for... no apparent reason beyond name recognition. It dates back to 1990, so quite a bit more recent.
As to Galadriel in Distress... well, the solution on the website Pippa linked to suggests that you have to 'say Sesame' to get into somewhere, rub a lamp, fly on a carpet... I'm guessing not a whole lot to do with the books.
(Though I'm now imagining sending an agent team into it... ehehe. Best idea: they go off-track and start wandering through Bizarro Arda.)
