You've heard of the Suvian Colour Spectrum, of course - urple, wilver, and so forth - but did you know there's also a PPC Colour Spectrum?
Kaitlyn
TechnoDann
Ca55ie
Desdendelle
Araeph
Phobos
Huinesoron
PoorCynic
VixenMage
July Flame
Iximaz
Neshomeh
About a year ago - actually, right in the middle of the 2014 Shipfest - we discussed at length the technicalities of HTML's 'color' coding. The HTML in question is Word, with the []s obviously replaced by their pointy equivalent.
As it turns out, our PGs make a pretty decent spectrum. Phobos is a bit of an outlier - 'Phobos Black' is technically a very dark green, but still looks like black. ;) I'm quite taken by both Neshomeh Blue (the first of these colours named) and VixenMage Mint.
You'll note that I've tweaked a couple of spellings - Cassie, Dann, and July all give colours too close to another ('Cassie' is very close to Kaitlyn Red, 'Techno-Dann' is very close to Iximaz Blue, as is 'JulyFlame'). You may also note that PoorCynic 'Green' doesn't follow the rules - he ought to be only a smidgeon bright than Phobos, but something in the structure of the word changes him to, well, that.
So - where do you fall on the spectrum? We're totally missing the purples, and have very few mid-tones (because they need numbers in the hex codes, and most usernames lack those). Will you be the one to fill in the gaps?
hS
PS: All right, all right:
Jay is slightly darker than Phobos Black
Acacia is a balanced orange with just a hint of blue

Not what I expected, but hey! It's cool!
Data Junkie
I appear to be somewhere between Kaitlyn and TechnoDann, which is mildly disappointing as I was hoping for a green, but oh well.
I come out as:
"Cyba Zero"
Unless, of course, I take the second part as an actual number, in which case:
"Cyba Zero"
This is only coming out black on message preview, so we'll see if it applies any colour when I actually post.
Did you not mean triangle-brackets when you stated 'pointy equivalent'?
The '#' symbol seemed to make no difference on preview.
Not sure what's wrong, but apparently it's not working - that or c0a0e0 and c0ba00 both come out black.
Font [SPACE] color.
Cyba Zero/Cyba Zero/Does whatever a Cyber Zero does
hS
So depending on whether I take the last part as word or number, I get:
Cyba Zero (word)
Cyba Zero (number)
... and both are pastel shades; lilac and lime - interesting.
KittyEden turns out to be a rather nice TARDIS blue! My brother, however (Kay Eden) is green. Wicked.
Unless hS has some evil plot we're not aware of. hS, do you have an evil plot were not aware of?
Edhelistar Hmm... a tone of pink... Let's see my planned Agents...
Solvig Karinsdotter
Yuna Takamiya
... Well, at least they're green! XD
Since we're second to go after Scapegrace and EvilAI, I figure it might be a good idea to go ahead and plan when we'll battle. I'm free after 3:00 EST on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays as well as all day Saturday and Sunday.
I'm free at those same times, the difference is that for me, they are for Pacific Standard Time. =P
Also, gosh! Girl, you nearly gave me a heart attack! I just saw your username and my heart skipped a beat! XD
*looks around*
BOO!
...maybe not.
Anyway, sounds good to me. Scape, EvilAI, get goin'! I wanna have a turn! XD
Aaaanyway, I'm usually hanging around the Writing, RarelyUsed, Art and Competitive Tutoring chatrooms
I don't wanna be scary...
Anyway, RU is my usual sport thanks to Scapegrace, so I guess all that's left is to settle a specific date and time, which will just have to wait.
Turns out that Elcalion orange (Elcaliorange?) seems to be intermediate between Cassie crimson and Desdendyellow
ScottLogan is dark purple/blue
Entropy is red
Iodin is a pale green (at least, when spelling out her full Chiss name, Alk'iod'inrokini)
Riboflavin is green
Bryndan Kern is light blue
Aegis is dark red
Alagos is a yellowy/browny colour
And of course, ESAS itself is magenta.
[EvilAI]UBEROverlord
EvilAIUBEROverlord
UBEROverlord
So I guess there is your purple if you want it.

Let's see what "TheShyIon" comes out as...
(Also, Acacia looks green-yellow to me.)
TheShyIon Black. Sorry :(
TheShyIon
"TheShyIon"
Lemme try:
TheShyIon
Guess not. Let's try it with spaces...
The Shy Ion
Any letters other than abcdef just read as 0, so the only 'useful' letter in TheShyIon is that 'e' - which gets stripped out by the algorithm. Adding the spaces... uh... shouldn't change that, since the HTML should just read 'The Shy Ion' as 00[e0] 00[00] 00[00], which is still black... but for some reason is using the sections in [here] instead.
Let's test this! (My method of figuring out the exact hex code is simple: take a magnified screenshot, read the numbers from MS Paint, then convert them to hex.)
The She Ioe comes out as e0 e0 e0, and confirms that the 'wrong half' reading carries through the whole word. What about if we add some earlier valid letters?
Tee She Ioe actually comes out as ee 0e 0e; so it's clearly counting from the first valid letter. Is it only doing that when the 'first letter' falls in the first third of the string?
Thy She Ioe is 00 e0 e0, meaning it's still dropping the 'first halves' even when there's nothing weird in the red block. So why is this happening?
00e 00e 00e is still e0 e0 e0, meaning it's nothing to do with the letters used.
00e000e000e0, still the same. Does it just not like 12-item strings? (Yes, 'The Shy Ion' is 11, but it automatically adds one to make it a multiple of three).
00e0000e0000e00 is the 15-letter equivalent, but is still grey. Maybe it's just the letter 'e'?
00c 00c 00c and 009 009 009 are also grey, meaning they're also skipping the 'first halves'.
Come to think of it, this is exactly what's going on with PoorCynic - the middle 'rCy' cluster is forcing the HTML to start each cluster from the middle. PoorCynicGreen is 00 c0 0c, so it's definitely reading 'nic' from the middle, too (to get that 'c' in there). And those are three-letter sections.
New guess: if every 'block' starts with a 0, those 0s are cut off and pruned back until one block finds a letter. So Neshomeh reads as nEs hom Eh0, and doesn't truncate (giving 0E 00 E0); Neshomuh is nEs hom uh0, so truncates to read as E0 00 00. Okay. That works.
But... what about TheShyIon, which appears as pure black despite having a non-fronting 'e'? Well, actually... it doesn't. ^_^; The precise hex value of TheShyIon is 0e 00 00 (or a red value of 14 in Paint); it's very slightly red.
So to tighten up our theory: each third of the string is 'pruned' from the front until the first letter of one isn't a 0 - or until there are only two letters left in it. 'TheShyIon' can trim far enough to bring the 'e' into the second position, but it's the last letter in its cluster; it can't become the first letter, because then it wouldn't have a second letter after it.
(Alternately, this could be consistent with the suggested mechanism for 3-letter strings: they take each letter as a hex value, then add a zero in front of it. So FFF becomes 0f 0f 0f, and TheShyIon becomes eyn, which becomes 0e 00 00. Consistency!)
... did I solve it? I think I solved it. Er, with rather too many words...
hS
This is wobblestheclown, and this is Scapegrace. As you can see, they are exactly the same.
I have not changed.
Damn.
"wobblestheclown" looks slightly more green than "Scapegrace" to me. It's a small difference, but a difference nonetheless. {= )
~Neshomeh
RinaAndRanda (Rina) is a lovely shade of green. Me likey.
RinaAndRanda is a turquoise...ish.
Iximaz just to finish off the green-to-blue. :D
Fasoula comes out as a... kind of gaudy flamingo pink. Can't say I was quite expecting that.
I wonder what my old name turns out...
Hm. Well, there's your purple.
firemagic becomes f00 e0a 00c becomes f0e000, or firemagic
KarrinBlue becomes 0a0000b00e, which becomes 0a0000b00e00, which becomes 0a00 00b0 0e00, or KarrinBlue
eatpraylove I think I'm the same shade as TechnoDann, but I could be wrong.
Chris Kaitlyn's color! Yay!
Ami Seeker That is a very lurid purple.
Miguel Correa Nice shade of blue. (TARDIS blue?)
Violet Rose Greenfield Same as Miguel. Boring!
Darkotas
Oh dear. This is, uh... interesting?
Omega I like that color.
World-Jumper
Darn, light green. I was hoping for a nice dark blue. Still, it kinda works for the world hopping thing, you know, with green for grass or something. Still, blue would be nice.
Sabrina comes out to about the same. Maybe it's destiny? Zeb comes out to just black, as far as I can tell.
This should be interesting.
Jennifer Robinson
Supernumerary
Ilraen-Aroline-Fothergill
Derik
Gall Knutson
... So we've got green (too bright, but still appropriate), Team Blue (also appropriate!), and Team Red. Cool!
Their first names/nicknames mostly just give black, or so close I can't tell the difference just by looking. "Ilraen" was still blue, though.
What the heck, I'll do the rest, too:
Henry Robinson/Henry
Mirrad
Elms/Elmira Serena Sylphia Saffron
Castor Parwill/Parwill
Loquacious Immac/Immac/Immie
Alex Bjørnsen/Alex
Algernon Bogglish/Bogglish
Jann Pablum/Pablum
Oh, and how about: Zebbie {= )

Danny Richardson/Danny -- Whoa nelly. Apparently Danny Richardson is secretly a Stu in disguise. The second color is better, but definitely not him.
Laura Dukes/Laura -- Definitely not colors I'd associate with Laura. They're both a bit too subdued.
James Pittman/James -- Aw. That's rather dull. Sorry James.
Gremlin/Penelope Teng -- While the second color is not one I'd associate with her personality (most of the time), it's closer then black.
Xericka -- Wow. That's pretty much spot on for Xericka. It also plays well with Penelope's font color.
Aiden Nil/Aiden -- That's a heck of a contrast when compared with his adoptive mother.
Rachel Calendar/Rachel -- Both these shades work. The first is closer to when she's an actual agent, while the second puts me in mind of her intern-era personality.
Cornelius -- Again, not a color I'd associate with this agent. Well, while he's sane, anyway. Maybe when he finally hits rampancy it'll be more appropriate. 2015 HST is supposed to be that year...
Teyala Solnerii/Teyala -- The first one definitely works for Teyala, given her job in the nursery. Lots of pastel colors and what not.
PoorCynic
Selene is a nice uniform grey, but Selene Windflower is a deep red (figures). Selene Morgana Lilith Perdita X Windflower is ridiculously uncalculatable overkill a clear blue.
Kaitlyn, we already know, is dark red (and, I didn't notice before, also falls prey to the Zero Trimmer). Kaitlyn Jackson is blue with just a hint of that red.
Obviously Agent Huinesoron is Huinesoron Green.
Morgan is blue again, which leads me to wonder: are any members of the Continuity Council the right colour?
Fisherman

Librarian
Disentangler
Agent
Notary
So that's... Fish and the Notary. I'm sure they'll be glad to know they have something in common! ^_^
hS
Might be a bit of a stretch to call it jade, though.
Because you're wrong. XD
Sorry, sorry. More precisely, your perception of colour disagrees with the raw data. The Librarian comes out at 0b a0 a0, which is slap bang between blue and green. That's a location I'd label 'turquoise', or 'blue-green'. The fact that you perceive that midpoint as 'kind of green' is very interesting.
(As for me? To me, it's grey and boring. Librarian and a0a0a0 look utterly identical. I think that conclusively proves that my colour-blindness is related to red-perception? Maybe?)
hS
I've been known to have problems identifying blue-greens on the 'blue' side or the 'green' side. I have a tendency to label blueish-green as green even when other people say turquoise. Then again, I have no sense of color coordination, so what the hell do I know?
Let's see...
Gaspard De Grasse
Harris Frost
Nasir Shafiq Beydoun
Penny Chang
Angus MacFarlane
Yakov Nicolayevich Minin
Marianne Delacroix
Luisa San Lorenzo
Sonia Knight
I don't own Bulldog, by the way.
Fire Flash
Taldaris

Naya'Keegan vas Iktomi
Emiranlanoamar, a.k.a The Guardsman

I'm really digging Emiran's colour. What is it, exactly? Fuchsia? "Off-pink"?
Fine, let's see. If Printworthy is not a dark blue name...
Marvin Black
Marvin Jones Dark red. Interesting.
Printworthy Black. Darn it. Wait a minute... That means Marvin and Printworthy are red and black agents. I... I need to think some things over...
And, just for fun:
Rartiy Black again. Yaaay. My agents are super boring.
(Interestingly enough, Rina comes out as plain black as well, though Rina Dives is blue. Sabrina Dives is... periwinkle?)
Alex Dives is a lovely purple.
Arinellya is kind of maroon.
Kalen Briarthorn is an appropriate green color.
And why the heck not? Rose Potter is... the same color as Rina Dives, I think. Eep.
Mary Sue is almost urple. Very fitting.
Wobbles the Clown is the same colour as Rina... ish. Huh.
The Notary is rather redder than expected, presumably because she's been given a bunch of flowers by a perfectly filled out 17j requisition form.
Antrilovorasilendar is nearly urple, but not quite, and is nice for a flutterwing. Or possibly a honey bee.
And just for funsies, a team we won't be seeing for a little while yet:
Agent Lightning Bug and Agent... Elle are people. Despite one being a Joltik and the other being a recovering bottle blonde. =]
radioactiveSue
I don't know if it's only me, but to me it looks like much more than my text's color was changed
Sadly, Tira comes out so black that it's indistinguishable from uncolored text. At least my real name makes a slightly more interesting shade, even if it is borderline urple.
My agents, on the other hand give out more interesting results. Aaron is an appropriate shade of dark red; Natalie, on the other hand, is a hilariously inappropriate light blue that I wish my username would hex to.
SkarmorySilver
Huh. Um, okay. You said you were missing the purples, right? Well, there you go! XD
doctorlit is . . .
Red? Gosh darn it. That's my least favorite color. All warm and harsh . . . reminds me too much of Arizona summer.
And my name comes out:
first nickname
nickname with last name
full name
. . .
So all reds, except for one Bland White. Awesome.
... if you're putting your real name in, run it through Paint or something and extract the hex code. Otherwise your name shows up in the Board HTML.
Don't worry, I used the NamelessAdminSignal and had him/her/it remove your name.
hS
(Cripes, I wonder what that would look like...)
(doctorlit does not know computer things.)

Either my colorblindness is confusing me, or my name is just plain black.
