  1. I'm not sure why you write as though I needed to be corrected as to the Orlando shooter's identity. I deliberately used the article "a" and not "the" and picked two mutually exclusive religions for examples in order to illustrate that I was not referring to this shooter particularly.

    2. You are factually incorrect. My parents-in-law, and a good number of my extended family, for that matter, are Christians of various denominations and of none. Also, I've been meeting with a Jehovah's Witness couple every two weeks or so for a few years, because when I was working from home I was isolated and lonely and decided that expanding my worldview by learning what they believe was as good a way as any to get some human contact. They all believe homosexuality is a sin, yet I guarantee they all abhor this violence. They are homophobic, unless the definition changed when I wasn't looking; they are not celebrating violence or wishing anyone would do more of it.

    More compassion, less prejudice, please. Compassion only for people we agree with is not good enough if we ever want to end violence.
