Thanks for the recruitment story, I'll study it more later.
I'm still in the process of finding a fic I'd like them to tackle for their first mission, but in the meantime... enjoy.
I figured it was about time I started a Lighter and Softer spinoff. :P
I'm trying to be coherent, which is really hard because Iximaz is so good at this stuff but I finally got around to reading this and was (as always) blown away. I'm really excited to see what will come next, especially because I may or may not become quickly infatuated with Charlotte and will squeal in the privacy of my own home.
Thanks for the recruitment story, I'll study it more later.
Charlotte seems bloody chill.
Only somebody ice-cold could watch somebody appear out of nowhere and respond with a request for 'no spider jokes.'
Good on her.
I wonder, are there different subtypes of angst, or is this angst and everything else is just... stuff that's similar?
So Ix is basically another First Rina?
(I mean the two are practically identical, bar hairstyle, clothing, and scars.)
Also I look forward to reading more on these two's adventures
Kind of. Since Ave's grown out of self-insert status, I decided to bring in another who won't have her personality forcibly changed upon dying. :P Ix is less like me than First Rina was, though, so there's that.
Whether or not they'll ever run into each other, though... That's another question.
I already have a badfic found for them so after I finish up Ave and Zeb's in-progress mission, I'll be putting these two to work. :)
There's a lot of stuff here to like. For examples, the beginnings of a rapport between Ix and Charlotte. I already feel like they will bounce off each other very well. I also dug the idea of showing someone from a different canon their actual source material (although I sorta questioned Ix taking the revelation so well. Then again, lighter and softer, I get it.)
The only other nitpick I would offer is that I would have liked to see them in a different department. I feel like we get a lot of Floaters and a lot of DMS-Freelance agents. It's not a deal-killer by any stretch, but I will confess to a bit of disappointment.
All in all, very promising. I look forward to seeing what you do with them.
I know we have an overabundance of Floaters and DMS freelance agents, but that's what I like to write about. If I don't want to write it, why put them somewhere they'll never get written about? I made that mistake once already and don't want to do it again.
Though I will point out Ix didn't so much accept that her home canon was real ("This doesn’t prove anything, you know.”) as that Twilight vampires were real. The other bit hasn't quite sunk in yet... :P
Ix "knows" that her home canon is real. She grew up there; how could it not be real? What needs to sink in is that, to other people, the Potterverse may be as fictitious as Twilight was to her. Until she learned that in some way Twilight is real, and not in a lesser way than her home is real, because there may be no other way. So reality itself may not be what she believed it to be. Uh, are we already where I need to be? I’m not quite sure where I’m going here.
Anyway, let’s talk about something less philosophical:
"I’m Muggleborn," Ix said, running a hand over her her short hair.
HG
I originally just meant to look in to see what angst everyone was talking about, but I ended up sticking around for the whole thing, so good job! I like Charlotte, and I was absolutely going to say something about her name if she hadn't done it herself. {= )
Ix's name is gonna be a little confusing, since she's not your self-insert, but eh. Maybe she'll switch over to her real name eventually? Except, wait—that wouldn't help, would it? I just got the full extent of that joke. >.>
One typo to point out: you've got "exercises" where you mean "exorcises." Though making slashed characters exercise instead of implausibly get it on might work, too?
~Neshomeh
Charlotte is going to be fun to write, I think. When you have a name that incites certain comments, you start to head them off before someone can ask. :P
Ix kind of is a new self-insert, except less blatant than what Rina was. *shrugs*
And oops, thanks for the spot! Autocorrect is not my friend sometimes. >.>
Glad you liked it!
So, lighter and softer begins with a bit of angst? In the same time, it wouldn't be you if these characters didn't have some problems in their past.
Waiting to see how they'll fare in mission and PPC.
Their species pretty much demand a bit of angst be in their past, or else it wouldn't be quite realistic. :P
I've been poking around Harry Potter for some idea of what I'll have them tackle first. Something simple, maybe.
...
...
... ahaha no. :P
Charlotte is a recruited Sue? Guessing by her eyes, but those might as well be contacts.
Well, sort of. Another Boarder had the idea of creating a sparklepire agent before, and he fed himself of glitterbag's blood, hence the purple color. Pretty good idea in my opinion.
I really liked Caleb's missions so the eye color was a continuity nod there.
I did read his Twilight mission though. That was really funny. Except for the agents involved of course.
A vampire and a werewolf - sounds like the start of a bad joke to me. :P
(I'm still laughing over 'Charlotte Webb' - poor girl, how'd that get into a vampire fanfic?)
Take two rival species from two rival fandoms, slap them together, and see what happens! What could possibly go wrong?
And Charlotte was supposed to be the wacky comic relief bit character in her homefic, and got stuck with a punny name as a result.
(Funnily enough, Webb was a somewhat common name in the 1800s, so I rolled with it. :P)
... would start 'Lighter and Softer' with a page of angst about losing a job. :P
I did enjoy this, actually. Though I ended up with two thoughts stuck in my head:
-Ix should totally pay a visit to the mini-wolves in the Courtyard, and, conversely
-Lottie should stay away from Selene at all costs.
(Come to think of it, roman has a trio of mini-Sparklewolves in the pack... that's a meeting that could be incredibly entertaining. ^_^)

Never could let got of the angst completely. :P Though I'm going to expand a little bit on their respective backstories come time, and Ix is based on a character from an unfinished angstfic I started when I was a wee bitty kiddie, so...
*snrks* Lottie would... probably actually be a bit of a fangirl, come to think of it, since she really likes Dracula and thinks that's how you write a good vampire story. XD
(Selene-Lottie, that is.)
The bouncy newbie and the grim-faced oldbie, only in this case the newbie is a fanatic fangirl of the oldbie's home canon, while the oldbie once snapped and tried to straight-up murder someone from the newbie's.
I still can't decide whether that sounds like fun or terror.
hS
Lottie's been around for long enough to know what she's doing.
Other than that she's pretty new. :P
