Are there any writing tips for those types of stories?
Fritz Sorgebrunnen’s mother meets a Pony. (Bramandin mentions this)
Teek Virtanen visits home with a little help by her friends.
Stormsong and Skyfire with Molly Rath and Moses Taggson, and Drake and Naomi, and Foxglove and Laburnum all visit World One. (Rated PG-13, despite the warning that pops up for Laburnum's site.)
Sequel to the above: Laburnum goes home (unrated, harmless.)
Xanthus Garkaran goes back to the Mass Effect universe, and other stuff.
And the story Pretzel already linked:
Amelia “Lee” Keaton and Ian Nahinu with Samantha Maxwell attend a wedding.
HG
There is another story where Applejack (I think?) almost froze to death on an agent's mother's porch.
There might be a sequel to a story where a guy was allergic to gingerbread.
My advice, which may not be correct relative to the PPC:
Why are they going home?
Is this the first time they have visited since joining the PPC?
How have they changed from before they joined and who they are now?
If this isn't the first time they have visited, have they been through something that has changed them?
You don't need to include these answers in the story, but knowing their motivation generally helps.
...going to Lee's home continuum for a wedding of one of her friends. It was mainly meant to be a sort of world-building exercise, as Ian is from World One, as well as a bit of backstory. You can read it here.
I honestly should get back to writing PPC stuff, but my life's been taken over by the dreaded beings known as "Almost-Graduating-College-(Again)" and "The-Boring-Terror-That-is-Work". Bleh.
Those stories are about as character-dependant as they get; each and every agent's "coming home for stuff" story will be vastly different. Compare the Navare (doesn't have a home outside the PPC because he's a rescued Bit Character) to Des (massive problems because he's in a cybernetic suit — what'd he tell his parents?), and that's just two of my characters.
