I just... I can't get those nose-rips out of my mind. I feel like at any moment now a second mouth or a million fleshy tentacles are going to pop out and get fleshy tentacle fluids all over my floor.
In which Alex Dives gets called in to see Hornbeam, and DoSAT gets a new intern.

I guess Alex found his Librarian equivalent, though with PPC tech she's not going to remain haughty for long.
Especially since her Z-space "you-don't-have-anything-this-good" attitude is pointless when the PPC has what pretty much is teleportation with the portals.
Can't wait for more!
I remember reading about them a long time ago. I finished the series last year. It went from a series that sounded lighthearted to me, and then fridge horror set in. Finally, it went into "This is Reality" for me. I still can't believe they had 54 books.
I had to use Google to figure out what an Andalite was. I'm pretty sure I had nightmares about them as a child, so that's good. That face looks like the face of the thing at the end of 'I Have No Mouth and I Must Scream.'
Aside from the mild mental scarring, jolly good story!

However, despite the oil slick of fan art for Animorphs, my own personal mental image for any Andalite is something along the lines of...
... Whichever one of Mister Blobby's literal nightmares this thing is.
But yeah, you're more than welcome to fanbeing over those snail-horned mouthless centaurs as much as you please. I will not be joining you. I have a problem with things without mouths (they have other ways of consuming you) and I have a bigger problem with casual telepathy, though that might be my human-centric bias talking. It freaks me out, is all.
That's a cute pair of fandrawings.
In the spirit of cute, have a newly-hatched Kubrow pup, Clem drinking tea ("Clem! Clem! Cht-cht, Grakata!") and bird!Ember and crab!Frost being adorable.
That one never fails to make me d'aww.
And yeah, speaking as someone who... might or might not have had Aximili as a LO for a time period from about 12 to 15, I think Andalites are pretty awesome.
I wonder if what's-her-name (drat! Forgot already!) will mellow out once she sees the craziness that is PPC technology, or whether she ends up being the only friend of a certain female Time Lord.
Either way, good inerlude.

I know that you're trying to convey that Alex said those words in rapid succession, but I don't think that the sense of "WTF?" would be lost by punctuating:
"Wait, what?"
2) “Right then, um, Farilan, if you’d follow me please.”
Missing comma before "please".
3) The doors to Hornbeam’s office were easily at least sixty feet tall, but there was a smaller door set into the left hand, larger door
Hyphenate "left hand".
1) Changed it just to a Flat What.
2) Fixed.
3) Fixed.
As for her attitude problem... you'll just have to wait and see, though I'm working on another mission at the moment and she'll be making another appearance... >:)

The only maybe-negative thing I have to say about this is that I wish it were longer. I'd love to see Miss High and Mighty get her first real taste of PPC runs-on-nonsensoleum technology and have to come to terms with the fact that all her Andalite science is precisely worth a poot when it comes to making CADs work. Not that it'll cure her attitude or make her respect Alex more, but it would be fun to watch. *g*
Aside from that, yay, new Andalite girl and more DoSAT, and Hornbeam was in it, too! ^_^
And now, we should do that other thing. I am currently not working, so I have oodles of time. E-mail me when is good!

Because she is just so goshdarn fun to write for.
And now is good! All I have at the moment is WoW to distract me, so I'm pretty much free whenever. (School starts up again on Monday but the first few days are always pretty slow.)
First of all, congrats to Alex. You did it, buddy!
Second, wow... I know I'm going to enjoy reading about Farilan. What is it with beings with superiority complex that makes them so amusing?!
On a side note, I wonder who would out-superior who: Farilan, or the Librarian... Please make that happen! :D
Because I can't really say without giving away spoilers.
And Farilan... well, I imagine she's fun to read about because it's amusing to imagine her getting her comeuppance?
Although that's not always the case. For example, I like to read about the Librarian, but I really don't want to see him getting owned. It's him who does the owning!
I guess once she saw one of these bigger on the inside time-machines, smugness dropped? Congrats for Alex though, both for the place and the princely gift. Guess something bad had to happen to him to balance them...
I'm going to have so much fun smashing her Andalites-are-superior ego, muahaha.
And I'm pretty sure he got made technician when he did because it would make it nearly impossible to say 'no, I'm not taking her on as an intern'. It wouldn't do to have anyone else strangling her, after all.
It will be interessant.
