The brave Etherlred was cast down dead
Defending Carby Keep from the troll:
Had his sword to its head, but was struck down by dread,
Sobriety'd taken its toll!
For every tall tale, &c.
A hardy sort guarded Sandorne Fort
They didn't need much to fight hard.
But they were quashed one day by an army of Fae:
They'd live if their cider'd been hard!
For every tall tale, &c.

((Very. Very is the answer to that question. =] ))

Oh, there once was a maiden from over the way
With long golden curls and a face that could launch
Every ship sailed from here to the farthest-flung bay,
But her 'trothed is a shield-dwarf with pig-iron paunch
(CHORUS)
A dashing young bard, from the city he came
And many's the maiden who clung to his tales
About dragons and knights, but most heard of his name
From the husbands who'd lost like a bar loses ales
(FURTHER CHORUS)
(VERSES CONTINUE AND GET PROGRESSIVELY LEWDER UNTIL SOMEONE THROWS UP ON A SACKBUT)

Ahhh, who doesn't enjoy a good drinking song. How's this for a first attempt? I'll wait until I've had a few more ales before recording it with sound.
Let me tell you a tale of a man, yes it's true
The villains about they were all bound to rue
He buckled his sword to run villains through
But no ale had he, for his wife was a shrew
He hunted for villains, a Goblin was first
He said to the Goblin, come on do your worst
But his throat was too dry, his voice unrehearsed
Death came about, from his mighty thirst.
Sure, I'll have a go. by

Inspired by the unfortunate Thomas Thetcher, whose gravestone is on a postcard down in the lab, this is probably a late addition to the song, since it doesn't quite fit the theme. But I felt I had to do it regardless. ^_^
Young Tom was a fighter who marched off to war
And indulged in small ale to cool himself off
Pay heed to this warning, for he soon caught his death...
Drink strong beer or none at all!
For every tall tale &c
(I've tried to match the meter pretty closely, but I'm sure I missed a couple. Also I'm not sure I should even be matching the verse to the chorus... also I've never sung a drinking song. But look! I'm participating!)
