Hello, and welcome aBoard! For your newbie gift, take this plate of freshly-made SPaGhetti!

Since you've already got plans to read the Original Series, all I really have left to do is point you at the Constitution. That and TOS are pretty much the only required reading around these parts. Another useful resource you might use is Reply Return to messages

Hello, I'm Shade, and I've decided I should introduce myself before losing myself within TOS and the mission stories. I generally lurk in FanFiction.net, but have dipped myself within AO3. My fandoms are; Harry Potter, Merlin (Tv Series) LOTR (Do you accept abbreviations?) Skulduggery Pleasant, Fate/Stay Night, Percy Jackson and Avengers. I’m a student in Australia but I have American roots, which makes for a horrible accent.
I love games, and I’m currently hooked on For Honor and the Witcher 3. I got here from browsing fanfiction.net and saw a reference a ‘Tenth Walker’ and ‘Mary Sue’. One thing led to another and now I’m here.
On a side note, please don’t murder me.
(Please note Australian English is different from American and British English)

Have a pile of multi coloured pens. I'm also a fan of Harry Potter.

Thank you very much, I enjoy spaghetti.
I've gone through the Constitution, which is stuff I believe I can easily follow, and the Wiki will be my current bible alongside the maths textbook.

Do you get into arguments over the pronunciation of words? Since me and a British friend have banded together against the Australian way. Even when it makes up 80% of my current accent, compared to 40% 4 years ago.

I worry that only Snowblaze is the only one specifically not planning to kill me :)

We don't murder newbies, although the oldbies might turn you into a five-year-old if you try to rebel against them. I found that out the hard way *sulks*

Also, maths textbook? What maths are you studying?

          • Maths by on 2018-09-26 06:16:00 UTC Reply

I was going to do specialist maths, but that got canned so I'm doing Maths Methods:

I'm a bit of a teaboo anglophile British loving nerd who tries way too hard, so I don't really have any issues with people finding any pronunciations odd... but trying to use the local slang has been getting me some weird side-eyes.

So if I go to sit down at a restaurant and ask for chips, the waitress will give me a side-eye and say "You know we call them crisps here, right? And we don't have those on the menu." It's like, yes I know I'm trying to assimilate to the culture here, thank you.

I'm sure you will eventually assimilate, just have faith in yourself.
Might require some head bashing, but you'll get there.

I'm glad to see we share some fandoms - I'm also into Harry Potter and LOTR (yes, we accept abbreviations. I think.)

For your newbie gift, have a bunch of purple bananas. I know it's weird, but it's the first thing I thought of.

And I have no plans to murder you.
