So, this is a crossover stu-fic from the Pokémon/Call Of Duty category:
https://fanfiction.net/s/10660110/1/
One of my collegues over on Library of the Dammed- Zeus Killer Productions- is currently riffing this. The author and I also had a altercation over PM, which resulted in him throwing a hissy fit and saying “ok, boomer” to me.
Basically, the syory can be summarized as this:
Ash Ketchum is recruited into TF 141 at the ripe age of 16, and is then promoted to major in only two years. Not only does this contradict the fact that the US military only allows 18 year olds to enlist, but becoming a staff officer in two years flat is downright inprobable, bordering on impossible.
He returns to his friends and family after two years as the head of TF 141. In this time, he’s made all the female soldiers in his task force part of a harem, had sexual relations with one of his Pokémon, become the ideal version of the marine copypasta, and basically become so removed from his canon characterization that he might as well be a different character.
His soldiers act like complete unproffessional morons; and are also tsken out of character (a feat in its own right comsidering the blandness of most campaign characters on most of CoD’s various installments). One becomes a Poképhilliac, another basically bars Ash’s own mother from seeing him; and the maturity level of the protagonists is downright highschoolish.
Ash threatens to shoot one of his oldest friends if she ever tries to come near him again. He also threatens his mother. Basically, he burns all the bridges.
Hmm, let's see... main character replacement right off the bat, and a real mean one, too. Let me guess, does the fic try to pretend he's the "hero?" And some bit replacements... How much effort does it take to replace a bit character, anyway?
Also, Poképhilia? Really, people? That is Not Okay.
I know neither of the canons involved, but I can tell this fic needs to burn.
(In future, I would suggest not telling us about altercations you've had over PMs with people unless you're venting, and even then it's probably best to do it in the DIscord server over #generic_salt. Of course, that may be me not wanting to ruin anyone's good name, but it's still a good policy to keep.)
...that the author took issue with a review I posted that scathingly critiqued the story, proceeded to spend two days of back-and-forth saying I was a horrible person, refused to listen to reason, and eventually proceeded to try and spam insulting reviews for my stories through sockpuppet accounts
Your post seems to be implying that it's considered okay to use (part of) the Discord for complaining directly about authors of fanfiction. Could you please clarify your actual meaning for those of us (those of me?) who don't visit it? Ta-hank you!

I've had to remind several people on multiple occasions that mocking the authors is not allowed. Most get it after one reminder. Others... need to be reminded several times.
I think in this instance though (and I'll wait for Skater to clarify) he meant complaining about getting shouted at by the author, but that's still going near a line I'm uncomfortable with.
I thought the "altercation" Minh was talking about took place between him and a colleague, not him and the author, which would make it okay for him to vent about it in #generic_salt.
In that case, Iximaz is correct. Mocking the author is most certainly not allowed, not in #generic_salt, not anywhere else. No matter how badly they take criticism, you are not allowed to attack them. Only their work can be attacked, and I would prefer not to talk about any altercations you've had with them.
Thanks for clearing that up. :)

I mean, put badfic reports together in the same thread.
If we make a new thread for every badfic we'll be flooded.
