You can call me Jean. I'm currently re-reading the Silmarillion and trying to get my hands on Unfinished Tales. Other fandoms include LotR, Harry Potter, A Song of Ice and Fire, and Throne of Glass; I'm currently fixated on Miraculous Ladybug in the cartoon section. I'm also an aspiring author and working on a original fantasy work. I usually write (hah) and browse the Net for fun, and play the piano when I get in The Mood.
I found the PPC a few months ago by looking up bad fanfiction on the Net (because hey, why not?), and my faithful search engine directed me to the wiki. To the Legendary Badfic page. Naturally, I was traumatized, but thank goodness missions exist. Then I read the introduction page and it just snowballed from there. I was still hesitant to join because the way I looked at it, it was a huge responsibility. Then I read more bad fanfiction. To be specific, it was this particular one that set me off: LotR, about somebody who claims to be Sauron's adopted daughter. I knew those were bad, but nothing prepared me for it to drag be down into the void of internal screaming. So here I am.
My time zone is GMT +7. I live in the general area of Southeast Asia as a student who's trying her best to graduate early because hey, why not? I'm also trying to learn Russian. Haven't decided on what to do for university but I'm quite interested in biology. I look forward to interacting with you all.

I expected a long wait, because lowering one's expectations can lead to lower amounts of disappointment. But it seems like this community is still up and running. I look forward to wasting away here! clutches plushies and yeets away

I'd read PPC stories for years without ever trying to look for the Board (maybe I didn't know it was a thing? I don't know. I was also active in a bunch of other forums at the time; maybe that's why). Back in something like December 2012 I thought, ooh, what if I can track down the 2-3 remaining semi-active members of the PPC to ask if I could do an outtake involving PPC agents for my Mary-Sue parody fic? That'd be awesome!
And then I found something like a hundred members, and eventually said hello, and then someone made the mistake of asking me if I planned to try for Permission and the plotbunnies attacked. With gusto. They have yet to let go of me, and I made a few friends along the way (...though, admittedly, the closest ones aren't all still active...one might eventually come back to the Board, though), so here I still am!

I had the same worry about joining- don't worry, there are plenty of people who just hang out and make fun of badfic. It is most excellent to meet you! Have a plushie rhino to drown out the Legendary Badfic.

Usually it's not like this, but Bramandin has a history with this community and is obsessed with... revenge? Reparations? I think? Nobody but they know exactly why they keep coming back, but they've been doing this several times a year for years.

Oh, what's this? Miraculous Ladybug you say? Yes! Someone else to nerd out with! (if you haven't checked the Killed Badfic TV Shows page, I'm currently the only one with ML missions).
Ooof, Legendary Badfic as your first impression? Yikes. I'm still working up the courage/brain cells/will/enough masochism to get me through to read most of those, and I've been here about a year. Please, take a fuzzy blanket and mug of cocoa to help suppress the memories.

Bramandin tried to get into the server using half a dozen or so new accounts after their latest attempt to infiltrate the Board got banned. It's similar to how they keep getting back on the Board -- new IP, new email, new account. I am very much not a tech person, so I've probably got something wrong, but there's the jist.
Every so often, she pretends to be a newbie, and the threads invariably end up derailing onto the topic of "the member you guys banned and bullied for being racist also they weren't racist".
It gets tiring, and this is only the third time she's done it since I've been here.

The "racism" thing certainly contributed to her original ban, but mostly because she made that comment seemingly out of nowhere in a thread where she was already receiving warnings for her behavior. In the grand scheme of things, it was just one random comment, and it's irrelevant to the fact that she continues to harass this community while insisting she's a victim of bullying and demanding that we bend over backward to accommodate her self-diagnosed issues. That's the real reason she's banned, and why her ban will be reinforced with blocking every time she pops up again.
Sorry for this being the first topic I reply to you about, but I've been dealing with this for years, and I don't want to see the wrong thing get blown out of proportion. {= )
Putting that aside, welcome! Since you dived right into the deep end of Legendary Badfic like a silly, silly person, have some Canon Cookies to help take away the pain with delicious canon-y goodness. Also Bleepolate chips! I stole the recipe from Rez and baked them myself, so I can vouch for their edibility and freshness, too. ^_^
