I just want to be absolutely sure before I do anything.

I just want to be absolutely sure before I do anything.
Do you need permission to write MSTs? I found this piece of badfic and I take pride in my own sarcasm.
I mean, unless my memory is completely failing me, but I don't think it is. (And if it is, someone will probably correct me fairly quickly!)
MST away!
~Z, who knows she's seen this information on the wiki but can't think where, exactly. Possibly one of the FAQs...? Hrm.
ETA: Aha! Here we go. From the Permission page:
Q. Do I need permission to role-play/MST/co-write/have a cameo with my agent?
A. Nope. Role-plays and other group activities on the Board or the IRC, or things that don't affect the PPC's continuity, like MSTs, don't require permission. Similarly, if someone who already has permission specifically asks for volunteers for a mission they're writing, it's okay to volunteer, and if someone who already has permission wants to co-write a PPC story with you, that's totally cool.
I just want to be absolutely sure before I do anything.
Betas are useful things to have, and we do generally encourage using them for things, so I can't exactly not recommend using one. Still, that's up to you!
Where do you post it? Wherever you like! If you want us to read it (I'm sure there are those of us who'd love to, and it sounds like you're aiming to share it), drop a link on the Board. You can post it wherever's convenient for you, really--Google Doc, Tumblr, dreamwidth, something else I haven't though of...whatever works.
Have fun! :)
~Z
All of the MSTs I've read are done by agents who've already been on missions. Do I have to make some? Can they MST if they haven't been on any missions?
MSTing as yourself/your avatar, and/or a selection of canon characters with strong (hopefully amusing) opinions on the subject matter. You could also ask a friend or two to MST with you! Share the pain love. ^_~
ETA: And your OCs don't have to be agents, either. MSTing isn't remotely limited to the PPC; it's a fine old sporking tradition all its own.

One of my characters, Dahlia, has only been used on the context of MSTs, as she hosts them herself and isn’t a PPC agent. She’s just a reality-warping goofball with nothing better to do than rip into bad fanfic and flirt with her guests.
Your friends from real life, whom you pressganged into doing this;
Your errant cousin, living with you until they mend their ways and fall in love with the milkman;
Your errant milkman, living with you until they mend their ways and fall in love with three bottles of semi-skimmed and a gooseberry yoghurt;
Your cats, who number at least seven;
Your multiple personalities, who number at least twice that;
A group of former servicemen in a big van, on the run from prison for a crime they didn't commit;
The biology faculty of the University of North Cornwall (formerly Bute Technical College);
The Harlem Globetrotters;
The Wu-Tang Clan;
The Sugar Puffs monster;
And a kipper called Fred.
I do not have multiple personalities, and I need someone to co-write with.
My idea for it is to do a reading of it and record our reactions to it, then write it into the story. Since I've decided on two characters, I'll do one and the other person can do the second.
Anyone with a good knowledge of the Dark Lord of Mordor and a lot of sarcasm can apply. Also if you hate Sauron's daughter fics.
I have an extended holiday due to the virus, and i see the bright side of it now. About to hit a writer's block and I'll write this to keep myself occupied.
