My first thought was that that kind of dramatic reaction was just like Scapegrace. Then I actually read what it said, and... honestly, it's still kind of perfect for Scape. >:D

I could swear she also wrote something like "a string of curses best approximated by a glyph of a urinating dog," but I can't confirm that, and it reminds me so much of PTerry that I'm wondering if it's actually something out of a Discworld book. Pyramids, maybe? I don't own that one. Does anyone know what I'm talking about? ^_^;

It's the Agatean symbol for '!', but Rincewind keeps saying things like 'Oh, [urinating dog].'

'Pyramids' gives us "Squiggle, constipated eagle, wiggly line, hippo’s bottom, squiggle", which may be what you're thinking of; from context, the eagle has to do with excretion, while the hippo's bottom is about pillows (British pop culture reference).

I may have finally acquired the second expansion this week.

And I MAY have spent a good three hours painting a map of Konti-Nyuum.

And I MAY be planning to start running the simulation tomorrow. And writing it up along the way.

High Priestess Scapegrace's war against Baron PoorCynic has netted her two extra cities, despite Baron Neshomeh's attempted intervention. She has twice been in control of the Union capital of Borrd, and (next to Iximaz and the Mords of Diskord) is one of the Great Powers of Plort.

Meanwhile, Baron Juliette is waging war on the fortresses of Hieronymus, and Baron Kaitlyn's expansion into central Wechi has been stymied by her husband's backstabbing war.

Oh, and Protector Tomash has never managed to get his single city above size three. I swear that wasn't deliberate. XD

In the sense that I can well imagine attempts to invade it going poorly due to the land itself being against you. If you're not lost in the Larninkurv mountains, it's probably because you're bogged down in the Lenc mire...

Whether that has any bearing on your game or not, I have not the faintest idea, but I am Engaging With The Topic anyway. {= )

But so far, you've founded four cities in the mountains to the west, attacked Scapegrace, taken one of her cities, culturally absorbed one of PC's, and then lost both to Scape's cultural pressure.

All while fending off vast hordes of barbarian horsemen coming in from the western mountains. I assume they were Ypurs.

You also founded Catholicism, so I think you're out to convert the world to the worship of the Gods of Wechi-Ah. (Though... Wikia is gone now, as are Sean and Tamara. I think Plort is due for a religious shakeup.)

Now, if Kaitlyn makes a go of it in Central Wechi, we might see exactly what you're talking about. But who knows if that'll happen...

There's been a war between Juliette and Hieronymus for about two thousand years, but as far as I can tell nothing's happened. The World Congress has led to high drama in central Borrd, but only a couple of cities have changed hands. Neshomeh has now lost three cities to ~~culture~~ loyalty pressure, while Phobos - at war with all of his neighbours - made the baffling decision to march a settler waaaay down south.

And Tomash founded a second city! I'm so proud of him; he's the little AI that could. ^_^

I'm confused as to why nobody's settled Barony Larf though. Not even Larf, who's Australian AI is normally very expansion-oriented. How peculiar.

No, but seriously: endless barbarians. I think it's that north-eastern peninsula that did it: nobody wants anything to do with it, so they just. keep. spawning. Zingenmir was the second-to-last to settle her second city, despite huge swathes of grassland to her east, and Larf just went south. Now it's a no-go area.

(Other barbarian hotspots are Tomash's little enclave - he eventually needed a couple of wandering crossbows from the Diskord to clear them out - and the area to Neshomeh's west, though she's mostly dealt with that.)

It probably also has fresh-water issues, ie, there ain't any. All the rivers flow south, and the barons follow...

Also, the AI in Civ 6 sucks. In one war, Kaitlyn had two catapults, two crossbows, and a warrior, freshly healed from retaking her own city, and a clear line to Huinesoron's nearest city some six tiles away. Instead of, eg, attacking, she shuffled them around for ten turns, then sent less than half of them to help Phobos take a completely different city. Meanwhile, Tomash walked his settler straight into a barb army, while Neshomeh lost hers to a wandering barb - and then left it there. I think there's been a settler hanging around on her borders for most of a hundred turns, she's just ignoring it.

They're doing okay in some areas. Their teching is fine (though they're at least theoretically on Deity, so it should be), they're playing the religious game well, and there's been some dramatic World Council maneuvers. But the settling and warring parts of their coding are really kind of pathetic.

(They may be having happiness problems; there seems to be a shortage of luxuries on the map. But my understanding is that Deity pretty much disables the happiness system anyway.)

The AI's pretty rock-dumb most times. It's actually quite a lot better than it was at launch, though. Plus it hasn't had loads of modders trying to fix all the amusing little quirks and peccadilloes yet like earlier Civ installments. I believe some of the mini-DLCs are trying to fix that too, which, well, I hope so. It took them a while to make Britain's unique ability not dreadfully underpowered, so I'm not holding my breath, but it might happen.

I'm looking forward to seeing Swedengrace prosper further. All shall tremble before my Carolean Guard and outdoor library things! =]
