As a Pern fan, I don't think "Master Tomash" sounds strange at all. I just want to know what craft you're a master of and if you'd like us to chant "walk, Tomash, walk!" as you move from the journeymen's table to the masters' table. ^_^
In any case, here, have some celebratory Canon Cookies! There should still be some left if Jean Yeap and DisguisedBacterium haven't eaten them all.

After two years of hard research-y stuff (and while technically there's still some paperwork to do on this I think) and a bunch of frantic writing, I have became ... Master Tomash.
Wait, no, that either sounds kinky or like I'm a Jedi.
*pokes around at old titles*
Ok, found one. I have become ... Magister Tomash!
Or, in other words, I wrote a thesis-like thing and got my Master's degree, and I would like to celebrate this!
Congratulations, Tomash! That's quite the accomplishment!
(Almost wrote 'Cosine' up there, which - wrong kind of science, I think? XD Anyway.

I'm now a Master of Computer Science, and I could probably do with the chanting, given that walking accross a stage in fancy robes is currently unavailable due to the plague.
I'm not kidding. That's the actual term for a member of the brand-new Computercraft on Pern, according to the Dragonlover's Guide. Let's hope they change it when they become more familiar with the whole business, eh? >.>
Anyway, you're now entitled to wear shoulder knots in the colors of your craft and the location of your posting (if other than the Mastercrafthall), plus a roundel badge displaying your craft insignia (red computer chip on a white field). (I've always found that a very silly-sounding tradition, but who am I to argue with Tradition?)
From the description here, I don't think the picture Nesh linked shows a Master's knot anywhere. The bottom row is for Crafters, but runs Apprentice - Journeyman - Craftmaster.
I'm having just as much trouble as Nesh figuring out what they look like, but I think I've got it figured out. So, with one loop under the arm (ie, around the joint), and one over with two small strings attached, I've sketched a representative sample of a Master Computerer:

(I've gone with red as the craft colour - the first link above says both Smith and Starsmith use it, so it seems plausible. White would be an alternative. In the absence of a known colour for Landing, I've attached him to Southern Hold, who use green on green according to the same link.)
(If I were inventing colours for Landing, I'd go with blue and gold - the colours of the original Pernese flag. But I'm not even sure Landing would get colours; it's not really a Hold, right?)

I appreciate this pile of nerdery about how this would all go down on Pern, even though it's been quite some time since I've gone anywhere near those books.
Master Computerer ... I should get that on a fancy bit of paper and hang it on my wall or something.
