I know, I start writing things fairly often and rarely finish them... but this time I'm gonna stick with it, promise. I've been watching a lot of shounen anime lately, and I blame them forming an unholy fusion with men's dress clothes and the PPC in my mind for the inspiration behind this story. The title: Ivory Tower Book Club. The premise: a young girl looking for friends stumbles into an overdressed, crime-fighting book club with supernatural abilities and a floating skull for a mascot. Sounds like a bit much? That's the aim! This is my first time writing PPC-style absurd comedy in a non-PPC original setting, and I'd really appreciate feedback on it. All I've got so far is a short intro chapter, but the first chapter proper is in the works. Until then, you can view what I've got so far here.
Merry reading!

I'm slowly migrating my better writings from my writing Tumblr to my new FictionPress account, and I've just rediscovered my favorite short story I've ever written. I never received any feedback on it, so if anyone reads it I'd much appreciate a few words about it. Warnings: nothing from the blacklist, but death, grief and general sadness.
Here goes. Merry reading!

Somariel and Damian, I appreciate you taking the time to look at my story. I'm really glad to hear that this incredibly silly idea of mine makes a good read, because it's definitely a lot of fun to write. I didn't expect the Ivory Tower Book Club to grow on me like this, but I honestly can't wait to write more of their wacky adventures.
Speaking of, the next chapter is now up, and you can find it here! Warning for a brief joke involving fire, but that's about all the warning that needs to be given, I think. It's technically half of a chapter, but I figured it would be easier to post a few page-long segments fairly often than a twenty-page monstrosity once a month. This is where the supernatural side starts to come in more, and the characters get more fleshed out, and I'm really eager to see what you folks think about them. (Of course I'm also curious about whether this chapter is as funny as the first one. I'm a bit biased because I'm having fun here.)
Merry reading!

I found myself grinning throughout and even chuckling occasionally. I really liked Isabel's growing bewilderment with the club members and her continually foiled decision to GTFO really amused me.

As Damian Thorne said, you do a great job of characterizing everyone, including the absent Sunny, in a short span of time. The ending was also laugh-out-loud funny for me.

...I really like this. You instantly get a sense of the characters and who they are from three pages alone – even the ones who aren't present, and the absurd comedy is just fantastic. I don't know how you do it, but you're really good at presenting situations so ridiculous that I can't help but laugh. I didn't pick up on the "supernatural powers" bit, because I assumed that everything supernatural was part of the absurdity, but that doesn't change my opinion. You can go far, my friend.
