In which David and Paye tackle a 1984 fic.
Warning, as usual, for language, and some implied bl2 on the Discord Blacklist at the end-ish. I hope you enjoy it!

(The badfic in question is "Only a Nightmare". Also, dang, I keep forgetting things.)

Aha! A mission actually set in 1984! Except it's not; what a disappointing concept. I was all excited to see the agents having to navigate around telescreens, and the fic just goes and gives us a generic Earth setting. Oh well.
I think you handled it well, though, considering the source material. The idea of having one of the not-quite-canons notice the agents, and then start becoming aware of all the badfic weirdness, is a fun one, and it gives Matthew some early empathy development, too!
—doctorlit still hopes for agents to be properly endangered by a 1984 badfic someday, but recognizes there just isn't a lot of source material to work with : (

Minor note: I'm pretty sure Paye didn't throw the RC. RA, maybe?
"The air became thicker as dialogue happened one right after another, rather than spaced properly with paragraph breaks" just doesn't read as gramatical - I think this is missing a word somewhere.
The bit where Matthew notices going on was a very solid transition to the kill, and the ending worked reasonably well.

The RC error was odd, because I said RA in other spots... but that one I messed up.
On the other hand, the second error's sentence... made absolutely no sense to me, so I replaced it with, "The air became thicker as each person spoke, their dialogue smashed together rather than seperated by paragraph breaks." (Bold is this post only, not in the fic). It was just a really weird sentence. Hopefully this one is better.
-kA, who has no idea what they were thinking on the second error. How did they manage that?!

Your site is rather hard to read on mobile; the layout causes the avatar icon to force the text into a really narrow collumn.

Dreamwidth and avatar editing is Very Annoying, but (from my phone, at least) the column is wider. Let me know if that's not the case.
I should be crossposting to AO3, which is more user-friendly, soon-ish, but I am fairly busy tonight and might go to bed earlier due to Math Team Regionals (hope I do okay) tomorrow. So, if not today, tomorrow definetly.
The sole reason why I haven't been using my site: I forgot my password and forgot which email I used :/. Oops.
-kA, who really needs to do Things but next week is gonna be busier.

I apologize for not publishing the interlude first. I'm having a bit of a time trying to write that, so I'm sorry. I hope that isn't too disappointing.
