Mediaeval/fantasy stuff plus PPC sounds like a wonderful nerdy combination. I found it while I was looking through random pages on the wiki. Then I read through some of the Cyclopaedia. I am now beginning to think about a story for a Plort!me and I have a rather specific question. Would it make sense to be an ex-Marizu on account of my Quotev account which has some badfic in it? I just sort of stumbled into Quotev from some other corner of the internet, read too many Legolas/OC fanfics, and proceeded to write some bad fanfic of my own. I eventually stopped and found my way onto the PPC wiki and then to the Board. I've written some original fics here and there as well as some (hopefully better) fanfic.
While I'm not sure I have it in me to go digging around to see what, if anything, I came up with years ago for actual baronial heraldry (though I think there was something), I did just read through the last Plort story I wrote and...I feel like Eshakhar Na'Shirah's story could use an update. It's been two years, and things are a bit different IRL. I can even almost see the outline of a short story...I guess we'll see if I write it, and, if so, how long it takes me to finish!

The Wizard of Math is a strange knight indeed, with a half cloak, bright red shoes, and an odd long sleeve shirt with a red vest over it. Their brown hair touched their horse and then some, and their brown eyes looked around the scene.
"Do you happen to know where the Library is?" they asked a passerby. "The nearest one, if you could?"
"That would be down in Barony Neshomeh," said the passerby. "That is about directly south of here, two hours on horseback."
"Thank you," they said.
A strange knight indeed. They come from Heroes of the Robots Acadmia¹, back when it was Heroes of the Robots. It was a pleasant land, with all kinds of people, including those made of metal that towered above the normalfolk. There, the Wizard was merely known by their name given at their birth: Kittyauthor. Everything was as peaceful as it could be.
Until, of course, the Marizu attacked.
It came all at once. Some ran to the neighbor country, Robots Primary². Kittyauthor tried, but they were caught by some of the Marizu. Unlike some, Kittyauthor was actually covinced to join them in their conquest. The Marizu were just like Kittyauthor, they said. Working people from many nations. Some came from Tivit, had seen the Marizu get murdered (although from what, Kittyauthor didn't know), and had gone to the Marizu League willingly. Others came from many other lands, some invaded by the Marizu, some not. All agreed, however, that the Marizu's forces were required to change the nation they lived in for the better.
Kittyauthor, fully convinced, joined them willingly and was granted a shield with a coat of arms on it.
"What are these strange colors?" they asked.
"Well, the background is vantasable, the dragon Orzure, and the border is a color called Arghent," someone said. "All together, it is an oval shield, Vantasable, a dragon rampant Orzure; a bordure Arghent."
"Interesting," Kittyauthor said.
"You also get this," the someone said. They led a snow wolf out to Kittyauthor. "This is Snowy. Take care of her."
"I will," they said.
The nation, under the Marizu, changed to Heroes of the Robots Acadmia for reasons unrelated to the Marizu's leadership. Disgusted, Kittyauthor asked for a transfer to a different nation under the League. It was granted, unsurprisingly, and Kittyauthor was transfered to a base in The Dwelling of the Crescents³, where insistently not-undead beings roamed and played with the elements. Kittyauthor was also disgusted and got transfered back to Heroes of the Robots Acadmia to fight against a nation called "Union of Plort." Disgusted at the trickery tatics the Marizu was using, they hid until the conflict ended, then ran off in the direction of the Plort army.
They ran into a knight (whose name they never got), who at first acted defensive, seeing Kittyauthor's shield. But Kittyauthor said that they came in peace and threw down their Marizu shield and unnamed glittery sword.
"I don't want to be a knight of Marizu," they said. "I'm disgusted by their tactics. They fight with trickery; they seem to invade innocent nations 'for the better' but my homeland is worse off; they have nations that praise less virtuous values. I don't want to be with them."
"Some of our nations don't have the best values," said the knight. "You fled battle, did you not?"
Frustrated, Kittyauthor left.
After this, they changed their name (unoffically, sort of) to Wizard of Math and wandered off to another nation called "Me'Towpe'ah"⁴ and was a merely civilian there. They met David Null there, and they obtained a horse. They exchanged their Marizu clothes for the more fitting plain clothes they have now. The wizard offered David a job as their servant, which he accepted begrudgingly.
Me'Towpe'ah, for a while, was a neutral nation, siding with no dominant power. Both Marizu and members of the Plort stayed there when needed. The wizard had discussed with some of the members of the Plort nation They asked to go with the Plort army back to their home nation. The request was accepted. So they did.
They settled in a shack somewhere in the Confederation of Diskord before alerting the barons of their presence and their peace, which caused much confusion, as the barons intially thought they were someone else (another knight^). They were eventually knighted by Baron Na'Shirah and spends most of their time traveling with their servant.
Their new coat of arms references their old coat of arms and is as follows: Shield, per bend sable and argent; a dragon dormant agrent in sinister chief; a lion dormant sable in dexter base.ⁿ
Snowy had wandered off after the Wizard of Math left the Marizu.
¹ Rescue Bots Academy
² Transformers Prime (following off of the Robot trend)
³ House of Night (Dwelling for house, and Crescents to represent the marks the Vampyres wear)
⁴ Miitopia (this is just spelled like it sounds. Feel free to change it!)
^ In reference to the fact that I joined Discord before I joined the Board and was mistaken for another member named Kitty.
ⁿ I used a website, but hS can remake if he wants. Here is the site.
A lot of this story references bits in my own life leading up to the PPC.
Joining the Marizu, but not fighting: My love for some badfics (after all, that's how I found out about the PPC: looking for more badfic).
Snowy the snow wolf: My first every OC. She was a Mary Sue (but also a vampire. I changed it to a wolf because it made more sense).
Disgust in two nations (Hero of the Robots Acadmia, The Dwelling of the Crescents): Me hating Rescue Bot Academy (former) and me realizing that my once-favorite series sucks (latter).
Not wanting to fight with the Marizu, but being called a coward by another knight: I took a break from the PPC for some months before coming back. In this time, I neither read fanfic nor wrote missions (I didn't have Permission at that time). I, effectively, fled.
The Me'Towpe'ah thing, rebranding under a different name: I came back to the PPC and realized how nicknames worked on Discord.
Settling without alerting anyone: I joined Discord before making an introduction post.
"Spends most of their time traveling": The vagueness represents me not publishing finished missions, either due to no betas or I don't want to publish it right yet. The traveling represents, well, writing missions.
I hope I didn't shpx up the canon. I think I'm good? I might not be? I did wiki walk for quite a bit.
Oh! And the design (I keep calling it a coat of arms) represents things. The black and white represents the black and white thinking that the Wizard of Math once held, but, with Argent meaning silver, it also means that they think the Plort is not necessarily an entirely good nation, but the Marizu messing everything up, so they fight against the Marizu. The dormant dragon represent the past as a bad writer. It is asleep because I still write bad things, in my opnion. The lion is there to represent bravery. It is asleep because it looks cool I sometimes am not brave enough to write a mission over some of the badfic I run into.
I hope this is good, honestly.

Nice. I especially liked the shield.
I know there's an Alvish shield still to do, but I think this is the Inglish stuff that's been requested.
Sir Claire Book, the Fiddler-Mage:
Sable, on a bend sinister argent, an open book proper.
Nienor, identity-thieving Marizu:
Vantasable, on a bend sinister épiné arghent, a book proper.
('épiné' is also known as 'acacia thorned', fyi)
Linstar, newcomer in Plort:
Vert, on a chevron sable a star Or, a vial of glitter urpure.
(It is not typical to use a Suvian colour on a Plortian shield, but glitter is an exception. There is debate over whether it is Properly urpure or arghent, so it needs to be defined whichever is used.)
Linstar, troll of Kwotef:
Per fess apilakoro, urpure and vantasable, guttée-de-paillettes arghent, crossed swords Orzure flaming gewels.
(Marizu heraldry is so much fun - and so much work. "Guttée" is a special term for a scattering of droplets; the real versions include guttée-de-sang (red, for blood) and guttée-d'olives (green, for... olives).)
Knight Fox of Orange, definitely human:
Or, a fess tenné, a circle Or.
(I love the simplicity of this. Could have used 'orange' as a colour, but as far as I can tell it isn't actually different from Tenné.)
Wear your shields with pride! Except the ones which are of Marizu origin, in which case set them on fire and laugh as they burn.
~Baron Huinesoron, Head of the College of Arms, Castle Maklaur
My (currently unfinished, rough draft) Alvish Shield that I cannot describe in Elvish and I hope I did it right
And I say "rough draft" because it isn't exactly symmetrical and I'm not 100% sure I even did this correctly (it's supposed to be four-pointed, right?). I hope I did. It looks cool.
-kA
In proper Alvish style, that shield would be:
Nis blue: canta nastar alta cuna, sword blade with golden sunburst at tip; indil in fore, yellow diamond.
Four points is correct; I've just looked over that section of the page and yikes, it's not very well written at all. Oh well, it's mostly just my own reference anyway. ^_^ (My favourite hidden joke is that Kaitlyn's coat of arms features a twelve-pointed sun, giving her a sneaky rank as Duchess of El-Jheycom.)
hS
Apologies for poor quality. I didn't want it to be huge and crowd my post. But this time, it's actually good and equal!

... the Marizu's heraldry.
Read stuff on the wiki, but how does this work? Like, the heraldry-crafting and the lore-crafting and all that stuff. Do we just write it out at any point or is there a longer process to it?
-OrangeFox, trying to get out of a slump and actually write again
Because I finally got to getting the stuff out of my head, behold: a rough draft I wrote up in a couple of days.
Knight Fox of Orange is a strange creature dressed in elaborate and conveniently concealing robes who is most definitely not a small vulpine pretending to be a human.
When Fox first landed on the shores of Conti-Nyuum, it had no idea what it was getting into. It had arrived from the lands of Tivit on a whim, and this land was far different from anything it had experienced before. The local Marizu, however, caught its eye - it had heard rumors of creatures like these, and Fox decided to stay far away from them until it understood their threat properly.
For months the mage wandered from town to town, learning of the battles of the heroic knights and barons against the Marizu. With this knowledge came a desire to join their ranks, and as such Fox traveled to De’endee, the keep of Lady Iximaz. To this day Fox isn’t sure how it happened, with it barely understanding how Plort even functioned at the time, but it was dubbed a knight and sent out to battle the Marizu the best way it knew how: with magic and the occasional bite from its definitely human mouth. Its ensuing crusades against the Marizu were infrequent and longer than necessary due to its own incompetence, but Fox was determined to do its part nonetheless.
During its travels, it got to witness many citizens being knighted, and previous knights and even barons disappearing from the lands of Plort. Some left behind empty residences, and Fox took advantage of this to claim a small, ramshackle cottage in the north-eastern Diskord for itself. With this newfound shelter came complacency, however, and its battles against the Marizu became even more infrequent - Fox spent more time planning ways to fight than actually fighting proper. Nonetheless, fights still occurred, and Fox felt a great sense of accomplishment each and every time.
Alas, few journeys are without setbacks, and Fox’s was no exception.
It seemed that in the time since Fox had left for Plort, a vocal group of Tiviters had grown hateful of the Protectorate, claiming the Marizu were innocent victims the Knights and Barons unfairly hunted down and browbeat into submission. As a result, this fringe group took it upon themselves to vehemently defend the Marizu and spread anti-Plort propaganda across the expanse of Tivit.
Seeking refuge from the newly born plague of Corvids, Fox made the mistake of traveling into anti-Plort Tiviter territory, though whether it went there out of nostalgia or because it was caught at sea and Tivit happened to be nearby is unclear. Trained knight and mage that it was, it was in no way prepared for the angry mob it stumbled upon within minutes of its arrival. And so it fled back to sea, avoiding flocks of Corvids and persistent Tiviters wielding mind-warping threads of iron until it made it back to the comforting shores of Plort.
Dismayed by its experience, Fox went back to its cottage to hunker down for a while. Its drive to battle against the forces of the Marizu was stifled, and it refused to leave throughout the rest of the plague until it had acquired a peace of mind, a process that took nearly an entire year.
Eventually, though, it ventured back out into the lands of Konti-Nyuum, wanderlust taking hold of it once again.
And some heraldry, because it seemed fitting: Or with an orange fess, charged with a small circle, also Or.
When asked about the circle's meaning, Fox claimed the heraldry felt "empty" without it.
-OrangeFox, posting this late at night so the nervousness is dulled somewhat
This is the Cyclopaedia of Plort. It is mostly written in-universe (the Glossary is a key exception). This is the Beginner's Guide, which probably fails to explain what's going on.
For your own story, go ahead and post it here or directly to the Cyclopaedia. You can also try and RP if there's something to RP on.
For heraldry, read this for how it's set up, and then if you describe (either casually or in formal style) an Inglish or Alvish shield - yes, or both - I'll put it together for you.
Beyond that, there's nothing really - no formal anything. :)

... for some unknown (well, somewhat unknown) reason, I cannot have David Null as, like, armor or a sword. I'm okay with my other agents being armor/weapons, but David Null specifically cannot be. But, he is such an important figure to me that I can't leave him out.
I guess I think of him more as a person than I think of my other agents? I mean, he's the only one of the agents to have some of an unpublished story starring him before I repurposed him for PPC (Crow, Paye, and Kittyauthor were specifically made for PPC, O'Ryan is ten times removed from another main character in another story, and K was a side character and not very developed at that). Maybe that's the reason why, but I can't be for sure.
-kA, who, honestly, also doesn't really know what nation they'd be in, and doesn't really have funny names at the moment for either Rescue Bots or Miitopia.
I've written several of my Infrastructure agents in as castle servants, and I believe one former Baron had his namesake agent as a shape-shifting double of himself. The setting is very flexible!
hS
And David Null is an action agent. But, if it's okay, he can be a servant.
-kA
So would my flag still be Sable, a book proper on a bend sinister argent? Or would it be something else?
But I work in Flagmaker Junior Plus because I have the artistic talent of a dead gecko, so I tend to go more abstract in my depictions of charges.
Flags do still have fields and blazons, though. =]
I tried to represent glitter in a way that would make sense and tie in with the rest of the flag, as well as how it is positioned on the arms. Hopefully this is to your satisfaction. =]
There is always a risk in naming an era before its true nature is known. When the end of the Fourth Age of Konti-Nyuum was recognised, the historians of Plort optimistically named the coming age the Age of Change. Yet with hindsight, it is clear that it is in truth the Age of Storms.
The new Age began with the election of four new barons, among whom Baron Thanasius Ampelius was notable for his origin in the lands beyond the mysterious Mistwall. With Konti-Nyuum now divided between eleven baronies - eight of them in Borrd and Ozerbord - tensions grew high as barons old and new vied for control of the isle.
Perhaps sensing this weakness, a slew of invaders turned their eyes upon Plort. First came the vile Green Ads, bandits and masters of stealth, swarmed across Borrd, rendering travel between its cities and towns perilous even for the best-armed among its people. All effort was made to banish them, led by two key figures: Huinesoron, who beseeched the gods Spelin Tam-Ara and Kanun Syorn for relief, and Tomash, mayor of the town Teebor, who sought to cast great wards about the whole of Plort.
The confrontation between the two leaders was brought to a head by the arrival of the Inter'Nelerors, savage flying beasts from beyond the Mistwall that swarmed across Borrd and Ozerbord alike. With their refuge shattered, the people fled to Wechi, turning in fear to the gods of distant Wechi-Ah; yet it was not gods who brought salvation. By the power of Programm'an, Tomash spread his protection across the skies of Ozerbord, creating the Refuge anew. In doing so he laid claim to the title of Lord Protector, ousting Baron Huinesoron from the position.
Confined to Borrd, the Inter'Nelerors were swiftly dispatched, but they were only the first crisis to come from the Mistwall. A great storm rode in their wake, driving vast waves up the river Gotfik and swamping the Coastal Forest; in the disaster, the great fortress of Ofum was broken and ruined. The knights of Plort wavered, unable to press their attacks against the Marizu.
The Baronial Council convened in an atmosphere of despair, yet from it sprang hope anew. Forts were raised in Ozerbord and Wechi, to take up the burden of Ofum's loss. A new city was inaugrated at Critta-Kalthin, to trade with distant lands. And a new nation was created: the Riding of Sittorese between Borrd and Iric, taking the fertile lands that were once Thalia's and using them to feed the armies of Plort.
Iric did not protest the appropriation of its lands. In fact, very little news was had out of the far eastern lands, and over the months that followed the council, utter silence fell. None travelled down the untended roads between Tumblar and La Wunj; no ships sailed the sea routes between them. The land of Iric was deserted, and when Baron Huinesoron in his wanderings brought its tattered banner to Borrd, the nation was declared lost.
Over time the people drifted back, from Borrd, the Riding, and lands overseas, drawn by the lure of empty fields ripe for the taking. They had no leaders, no laws or structures of politics; discord reigned among the rivers between the mountains. But out of it something new arose, a nation of factions and divisions, unlike anything that had been seen on Konti-Nyuum.
The war was so subtle that it might not even be called a war. Overnight, the lands of southern Ozerbord changed their allegiance, and in harmony with the eastern regions, raised the flag of the Confederation of Diskord. Their Mords immediately sought the blessing of the Baronial Council, and in a turn of events that surprised many, Baron Huinesoron himself supported their statehood. The baron stood before the council and proposed a great change: that the Council become a true Council of Plort, allowing the rulers of all its nations to be heard. Many deemed this a new beginning, the dawn of a bright future for Konti-Nyuum.
Yet the storms had not subsided. Even as the enlarged Council met in Borrd, Critta-Kalthin was struck by a tidal surge almost as great as that which had destroyed Ofum. The many channels of the Gu-Gel delta were reshaped by the roaring sea, and though the city itself was preserved the flood passed far upriver. Odolotos was once again brought to ruin, and all the lands between the Wep and Friwep became one vast swamp, the Neosity.
Aid flowed in from Wechi and the Diskord, turning the skills employed in the raising of Los Taelis and Ba-Korp to recovery and restoration. The people of Plort congratulated themselves on their swift response, and their salvaging of all but a few of the historic buildings in the region.
Then the next storm struck.
Ozerbord was struck first: great waves tore at its cliffs and rent vast canyons through its highlands. The last inhabitants fled; the refuge of Plort was brought to naught.
Shielded by the Wattufs and the Hustits, Critta-Kalthin was once again left unscathed. The workers in the Neosity hurried downriver, but their aid was unneeded. All they could do was gaze east as the vast stormclouds passed over the ruins of Ofum, and the waves thundered into the bay of Borrd itself.
The people of Borrd fled screaming. So great was the storm's fury that none should have survived, and even Otik's inviolable rock should have been torn down. And yet, even as lightning stabbed at the town, something else appeared in the sky. Vine-bedecked, held aloft by unimaginable arcane forces, the castle Tegnoh had left its long home in the Kar'eer Forest and come to Borrd at last.
In its highest turret, the Barons of Plort stood in a circle about Tomash, Protector of broken Ozerbord. From the Protector's lips poured sigils of power and summoning, and by the will of the barons they were shaped and sent forth. Vast barriers of protection rose about Otik, and about the citizens fleeing from the form; and even as Old Borrd was crushed beneath the flood, a new city rose in its place. White towers, raised long before in Teebor, were brought forth to the home they had been destined for; and when the waves and the gale subsided, a New Borrd stood on the shores of the bay where the old once sat.
Of the ancient city, only Oitk itself survived, its rock rising now from the iron-grey sea; and, in what was once the eastern quarter of the city, a small cluster of buildings huddled still on the shore. These had been saved not by design of Tomash, but by Huinesoron's intransigence; for, breaking from the circle, the baron had invoked the aspects of departed knights and barons even back to Jay and Acacia themselves, and by their memory preserved some small part of their city.
In the aftermath of the disaster, fearing future crises, Huinesoron established the Academy d'As to study the cause of the storms. The scholars of d'As quickly learned that the Mistwall, that mysterious northern barrier between their world and another, had shifted south. Nor was Plort the only realm affected: the marauders of So Shall Medea had been cast into disarray, and the Gods of Wechi-Ah had been overthrown by a new divinity known only as Phantom. Some among them even began to link the fall of Iric to the shift in the Mistwall - but ere they could study it further, a new trial came upon them.
The Plague of Corvids, a swarm of black birds that emerged from the Mistwall to descend upon Weab, sent Plort even further into disarray. Castles and libraries were sealed; knights and barons retreated to their holds; few dared to venture across the sea to battle the Marizu. The Academy d'As was closed, its doors sealed - which turned out to be a good thing, as another storm caused the river Jid'ryv to burst its banks and wash the Academy's buildings away. Many of the barons of Plort departed its shores, and for a time it seemed that the legacy of Jay and Acacia would be entirely forsaken.
And yet even in this climate of despair, there was hope. The Council of Plort, though weary and diminished by the Age of Storms, assembled once more in wave-washed Otik: the barons, Protector Tomash of Borrd, and the Mords of the Diskord. Together they proclaimed a greater unity: though the four surviving nations would maintain their separate ways, the Union of Plort would once again be known as the Protectorate of Plort, Konti-Nyuum.
"Oh," said Baron Neshomeh as the council adjourned, "and I'm making Storme of Hauk a baron; hope nobody minds."
Changed the fall of Ofum slightly (it was previously said to be burned by unknown hands), but other than that I think it's pure additions.
It's been a rough 9 years.

It is not made clear whether Marizu is a political or species descriptor. To avoid overtly linking the things we kill to the authors we wish would improve, it might be better to be a Marizu sympathiser in Kwotef. You could have had Marizu staying at your castle and suchlike.
Trolls, meanwhile (addressing Linstar here), are intelligent monsters with magical shapeshifting. There is no obvious reason one couldn't repent and move to Plort; changing their minds is what intelligent creatures do best!
In both cases, your heraldry would probably have an older Marizu form, which will amuse me immensely to make. :D

Urpure field on Apilakoro with a pair of flaming swords Orzure below on a Vantasable field with scattered glitter Arghent on the upper field Urpure.
((Also, the main character of the two badfics I wrote was pretty much a clone of me who gets non-con shipped with Sauron, becomes a Nazgul, somehow survives the destruction of the Ring, and gets shipped with Frodo. She proceeds to move in with him. Also, Sam Gamgee doesn't exist apparently. Then at the end of the story, she and Frodo go to Valinor and make Manwe OOC. Manwe makes a portal to Narnia, where she fights in the First Battle of Beruna and rescues Edmund. She stays with the Narnians, and the next day Edmund goes after some of the White Witch's fleeing army, and Nienor (my character, whose name I stole from Nienor Niniel) goes and begins to rescue him. At that point I ran out of steam and stopped writing it. despairing howls They were that awful. I left quotev and somehow found my way onto the Wiki. I don't think I actually met anyone there, though I might have seen Neshomeh editing things. I fixed a few grammar and punctuation errors I found, bumped up against the page about the Board, and decided to join. Much chaos has ensued. I will now attempt to Plort-ify all that.
Claire Book first made a small house in Wechi, but she usually isn’t there. She can sometimes be found in her house in the city of Borrd, but lately has taken to prowling around Diskord (where she has another house) and elsewhere or goes wandering around Weab or the Federation of Academia. Sometimes she sails to the Arijunal Islands where she stays with her sister and a few friends. She can’t seem to stay in one place, but will generally come back quickly if she is hollered for.
((This is the present. I will write more soon.))
Claire Book the Fiddler-mage, then known as Estelwen, is a wanderer. They have traveled through many lands of Weab, such places as Medellurth, Nareneeya [1], the land of Howell with its moving castles that walk over the land [2], and the Arijunal islands. They lived for several years in Terraeriah [3] and Naemans Kye [4] in Vidya Gaym. They knew nothing of the Marizu and their campaign to cover all of Weab in glitter and urple-wilver spells. One day, they wandered near the walls of Kwotef. They applied for citizenship soon after, seeing no reason not to go in and see what it was like. They built themself a small castle there. They lived there peacefully on and off when they weren't wandering through other lands for about a year, when a Marizu named Nienor disguised herself as Claire and threw them out of their castle with nothing but the shirt on their back and their fiddle in its waterproof case. They swore to have revenge on Nienor as their own guards dragged them to the gates.
They wandered for a few months homeless, and heard tales of Cam’s war camp of Ofum. They wanted to join, but Cam was long gone from Ayotree where they found tales of her. One day, they heard tales of the knights of Plort, and decided to investigate. They landed in Wechi. They didn’t meet anyone, but saw Baron Neshomeh riding to Los Taelis. They weren’t brave enough to talk to her, but they followed at a distance and spent some time there reading tales of Jay and Acacia. They eventually found their way into the city of Borrd, where they were greeted with a shower of gifts, which surprised them. After they became a citizen of Plort, they renounced their citizenship of Kwotef, and began training to take the pilgrimage to the Mountains of Purmeshun. They got lost and failed to cross the river Ponchuashun on their first attempt, so they tried again a few months later. They were knighted by Baron Huinesoron.

Besides, some of the Barons are female. And they're not called, say, Baroness.
Hang on, I think having an evil clone is almost the same thing as having an evil twin.
... who cast spells on herself to make her look like me. We look so much alike, that people can't really tell us apart, but I think there's something about her eyes. They look shifty.
I want to read it. I like reading badfic.
Now I'm thinking about writing a Plort story where I go to slay my evil clone, who is in command of the castle she treacherously stole from me.
Permission pending, of course. (Can you co-write without Permission?)
Would it work to do it as a sort of RP?
That'd be great. Though, my computer can't access Quotev, but my tablet can.
If you need bios for my characters, I can help with that.
What's the best place to host stories anyway?
I'm thinking maybe we should start it in some sort of inn or something. I think that The Wizard and Waffle would be a good name for an inn. Yes, it's silly. I like silly names for things.
You can start right now. I still have to figure out a bit more backstory for myself...I think I'll ride a Ypur...
They had been knighted that day by Baron Huinesoron, and after the ceremony, everyone went to The Wizard and Waffle to celebrate. There was music and dancing, and they were going to play some jigs and reels on their fiddle for everyone to dance to as soon as they finished eating.
A tall, lanky young man walked into the bar, ready to observe the scene before him. If only he could find a way to speak to Baron Huinesoron, then his plan would succeed...
I'm Claire by the way."
“I’m Linstar. I can see that you’re the newest knight. Can you direct me to a certain Huinesoron? I’ve some...business with him.”
(Hs, join in if you’d like)
I'm nearsighted, so I'm probably not the best person to ask. He should be here somewhere, though."
said Linstar. “It was wonderful to meet a real knight. And you remind me of someone, back when I—never mind. But you do -so- look like her.”
Who do I remind you of? It wouldn't be someone in Kwotef, would it?"
Linstar looked startled.
from me by a Marizu named Nienor who disguised herself as me, sneaked in, and next thing I knew, she'd turned my own guards on me and thrown me out. I left of course, swearing revenge on her and all that. I intend to get that castle back, not that I want it, but I figure that Marizu with castles are much more dangerous than Marizu without castles to launch raids from and such. I think I will have to get rid of her. If I throw her out, what's to stop her from coming back and throwing me out again? We could go at it for years and never get anywhere. I went wandering over Weab after that, and I heard about Plort. I decided to find out what it was like, and here I am now."
"If you're giving your backstory, I suppose I'll tell mine. I used to be a - citizen of Quotef. But then that Marizu lured me into her castle, imprisoned me, and stole my Ypur. I escaped and came here to petition Huinesoron to lead an attack on her castle."
... and I would be glad to help attack the castle, although I was thinking of sneaking in quietly and getting rid of her. I figure it shouldn't be too hard to get in, seeing as we look almost identical."
"I suppose I could do worse than a knight of Plort. We clearly should do this together. But first, we need to gather supplies..."
I'll also bring my fiddle, which is my main weapon, and a dagger to - ah, finish the business."
So we have weapons. How do we get to Kwotef?”
I'm friends with Hyacinth, captain of The Floating Lily, and I think she could be convinced to take us to Weab."
he said. “Let us go find this friend of yours.”
“Well,” said Linstar. “Which ship is it?”
We'll probably be able to get provisions when we land on Weab. It would probably be a good idea to get disguises as well." Linstar and Claire stepped onto the ship.
"Greetings, Hyacinth. Could you grant us passage to Weab? We aim to fight the Marizu. Linstar, my friend here, has decided to come and help, for he also has a score to set straight with the Marizu. The laws do say that knights may bring with them an assistant who is not yet knighted."
((Thanks for finding the typo. I fixed it. I am having too much fun trying to be Shakespearean.))
"It would be quite generous of you to grant us passage. We shall be in your debt."
... once we land on Weab?"
"I think we can do it in 2 days if nothing goes wrong. It may be 3 or 4 days if we are delayed. My plan is to sneak into the castle, do the job, and get the heck out of there," said Claire
They gathered their food and equipment, and started walking.
"This wasn't the way i went when I fled Kwotef, but I think I'll be able to find my way there. I went through Roe Lin, Lotor, and Staar-Tric. Or something like that. I wasn't really paying attention to the geography while I was there." Claire told Linstar.
((Do you mind? I don't really want to spend a lot of time describing the journey. Also, have I bungled the geography, hS?))
"That certainly was a neat time skip. I totally know tons about Kwotif geography. Yes, I've definitely been here a long time. So much experience. I used to live in....Lortor, that's it."
((I liked the time skip, thank you. He's totally lying. And the typos are intentional.))
... talking about timeskips."
((You insisted on beginning the fourth wall busting))
Linstar shrugged. "Besides, my sword seems practically allergic to it. Anyway, our Author(s) seems to want us to go to Marizu's castle."
((I like 4th wall-breaking.))
Besides, I want to find somewhere to camp that isn't out in the open, if we can't get there today."
They put down their violin case, got their violin out, and started playing. After about a minute, they put it back in its case and stood up.
"I know which way it is now," they said, starting to walk.
"We had best camp," said Linstar, gesturing to a flat, open plain.
they made camp and built a fire to cook on and to keep warm. Claire wrapped themself in their cloak and fell asleep.
... so I could take a turn watching." They got up and started packing their equipment.
Linstar began to make breakfast.
(Not really an error, just Plort!Linstar being uppity.)
Claire mixed cornmeal, water, salt, and oil in a bowl. They got out a frying pan, put in some oil, and started frying the dough, whistling cheerfully to themself. Making breakfast generally put them in a good mood, even if there probably wasn't any tea to be had.
...when a troop bearing a Marizu shield approached.
"Quick!" said Linstar. "To the conveniently-placed bushes!"
They ran off and hid.
The woman leading the group walked over to the remains of the meal. "See this, men?" There are spies lurking hereabouts. Spies!"
So they finished it, and started walking again. After about three hours of walking, they came to the walls of Kwotef, where they were hailed by a guard.
"Hey! You! Name and business!" he shouted down to Claire.
"I'm Estelwen. I'm here to visit someone."
The guard nodded, and let them in.
"This was your castle?" He paused. "But it's so...dark and moody."
We don't want anyone finding us and raising the alarm."
((It is now fixed. My typing skills are not up to snuff.))
... go up to the master bedchamber and do the dirty work. It's more likeley we'll be able to get out that way."
It was mostly full of various boxes and bales, which they used to hide themselves while they waited.
We'll have to pack up tonight before we do it so that we can get out quickly."
They especially looked over healing spells, because they would be very useful if anything went wrong. Injured people are not good at escaping. Healing spells weren't as good as regular healing, but they would hold you together long enough to get away. Claire was not planning on getting either themself or Linstar injured, but better be safe than sorry.
Because I think it only makes sense to do an assassination when it's dark and there are less people to notice you doing it.
...when Claire whispered to him; "It's time. Follow me."
He followed behind the knight, hand on his sword hilt. Sure hope no one sees us, he thought.
((Hope it was okay putting lines in Claire's mouth.))
We'll go through that to the master bedroom. There's a door that opens into a cupboard. We need to be as quiet as we possibly can so that we don't wake her up. When we get into the room, you go in first and lock the outside door. We don't want guards barging in on us. That door is pretty sturdy, so we should be fine." They walked quietly along the corridor until they came to the tapestry. They carefully lifted one edge, and slipped underneath it into the passage, with Linstar following. Then they sat down on the bottom step of the stairs and took their shoes off. "It'll make much less noise on the steps if we only wear socks instead of our boots," Claire told Linstar.
((It's fine. Thanks. I am attempting to make this at least somewhat realistic. How am I doing?))
((You're doing well!)) "I'm sorry for this," said Linstar. "Nienor! Here's the knight I promised you!"
((Yup, Plort!Linstar has betrayed Claire. [Only temporarily, but still...sorry.]]))
Well, not really edit her out of existence, but evade her, anyway.
I didn't mean for that to be two messages. I'm not sure what happened with it.
... your character is pretty much a medieval version of you. PPC agents are cast as weapons, armor, horses, maybe servants in castles. I am stealing this explanation from hS.
There are lots of ways to host stories, but I host mine on Archive of Our Own, a website dedicated to hosting fanfic and other stories. You need an account to post stuff, though. Here is the link.
I don't have a AO3 account, but I do have an (unused) Fanfiction.net account.
She has a point. (Though I'd rather figure out Google Docs)
A mostly-reformed troll who is mostly anti-Marizu. And yes, I want to make an older heraldry. With lots of urple. And wilver. And odder goffik colorz. (I did write a badfic once. It was a blatant trollfic based on a book my sister wrote. Essentially a clean version of My Immortal.[My favorite badfic.])
It was raining that evening. A thin, tallish person came into the courtyard. They weren't exactly sneaking, but they weren't just walking in, either. They looked around. All the doors were shut, so they curled up in a slightly less windy and damp corner, setting a long rectangular box down beside them. They tried to get some sleep, but the cold made their cough worse, and the rain didn't help. They eventually drifted off to sleep.
They got up and walked over to a bench in the sunlight, where they sat down and took a voilin and bow out of the case. They began tuning it, humming softly to themself. It looked like today would be better than yesterday. There was much less rain, for one thing. Maybe today they could get inside and convince the owner of the castle to give them some breakfast.
I like the sound of it—Linstar, Unofficial Spellcheck! (shoves the Minis Derrik, KittyAuthor, and Niemoh under the bed) Motto: “Don’t take it personally.”
I wrote a thing to introduce it earlier today but then the computer crashed, and I Do Not Have The Energy again, so I'll just say "yes".
I will work on an update to the History (stuff has /changed/ in the past 5 years), but for now I'll just say that Ozerbord is now Teebor and is an empty wasteland, and the remaining four nations are collectively calling themselves the Protectorate of Plort, Konti-Nyuum again. Because authorial fiat; I'll come up with a justification in the history. The four nations still exist though.
I'll also poke the Barony situation; I believe PC, Hieronymus, and Larf are empty, and I'm not sure about Phobos and Juliette. Everyone else I've seen. Storme, if you're reading, the Edict of Bast wants to know which part(s) of the PPC community you feel the most connected to: the Board, the Discord, the Wiki, or the writing.
And, heraldry. If you describe (either casually or in formal style) an Inglish or Alvish shield - yes, or both - I'll put it together for you. That's 'you' broadly defined, and if you've already got one, you can update or ask for the other type.
But be aware my energy and time remain low, so things could take a while.
hS
It is no longer Barony Phobos. If Baron Neshomeh gets her way, it's part of Barony Neshomeh now.
About four or five years back, Actual Phobos wrote most of a story concerning the weakening condition of Baron Phobos and his desperate attempt to regain his strength involving what definitely wasn't a rip-off of the Golden Throne at all, but it's unfinished. I'll see what we can do about that. {= ) But, I reckon it fails, leaving him worse off than he started. He then goes to seek aid from the Gathering of the Sorcerous Shores (or whatever we're calling Magic: The Gathering and Wizards of the Coast) and never returns. Baron Neshomeh, as his spouse, feels his holdings should naturally fall to her.
And she'll absorb Baronies PC and Hieronymus if she gets a chance, too—especially Hieronymus. He's her journeyman, after all!
But I expect Baron Huinesoron will have something to say about all that. ^_~
ETA: Depending on how much she gets away with grabbing in the first place, I guess she ultimately straight-up gives a bunch of it (from the Phobos/PC territory?) to Baron Novastorme upon creating him as such? Which is the opposite of a power grab, she swears! Yet somehow I expect much uproar over this, too. {X D
ETA2: The Plague of Corvids from beyond the Mistwall forced Baron Neshomeh to temporarily abandon her campaign against the Subjugator, I guess? And at various points she's been in deep cahoots with Baron Huinesoron and Baron Eshakhar, working on... stuff. IDK.
~Neshomeh
P.S. In the Real World, Phobos got less active due to a condition affecting his vision. He had surgery done to stabilize his eyes (great success!), and in the meantime, he got into MTG. He's committed to streaming now and doesn't plan on being active in the PPC again.
Spoilers, but: the fifth Age has been renamed the Age of Storms, and basically every event in it is "the Mistwall moved, something bad came through, and now things are ruined". There are three new giant swamps in Plort; Old Borrd has been flooded out; the Gods of Wechi-Ah have been cast out; and Baron Huinesoron's Academy d'As, built specifically to study the phenomenon, has fallen victim to it and been wiped off the map. The Plague of Corvids is just the latest blow.
At present, the new map of Plort is looking something like this:
Neshomeh is acting as "Steward and Warden" of Baronies Phobos and Hieronymus (PC I think she's just taken outright). Eshakhar is split in two. Huinesoron is baffled.
(The problem is that four of the seven remaining barons want land in both Borrd and the Riding, and there's only a very short border between them! If Iximaz ever realises that she should probably hold half the Riding by herself, I'm gonna be in so much trouble... :O)
I'm glad to hear Phobos' surgery was a success! We'll miss him around here, but hope he really enjoys himself, whatever he does. :)
hS
Glad to hear he's in good health. Even though I've never met the guy.
Though I would love to converse with Iximaz.
...the Wandering Winterwood has been sighted in the baronies of Neshomeh, Eshakhar, and Huinesoron being a general disturber of the peace? :P
Who wants me as a citizen?
... sailing in from lands unknown and deciding to stay in Borrd, at least for the present.
Yes indeed. I'll be the not-super-trustworthy new arrival. Who is probably a troll.
I did not get Permission the first time I tried for it. Being an ex-Kwotefian came back to bite me in the form of bad formatting and some unrealistic things happening.
(But only jokingly.)
Sorry, things are hectic IRL at the moment so I've been a bit all over the place with checking up on the Board (and generally doing stuff outside of work that I need to get done).
I'd say I'm more closely connected to the Writing and the Board. Although I used to have connections to the Discord that has been voluntarily severed on my part if that might be possible thing to bring in/up I guess? Otherwise don't worry about it.
Nova
... you ought to simply take over the former Barony Phobos. Hauk is located there, and Baron Neshomeh could plausibly have elevated you to the position.
But that's the far side of Borrd from the Riding of Sittorese. So more likely you will get a chunk carved out of Baronies Huinesoron and Hieronymus, and Nesh will just expand massively across the entire west. (Barony Iximaz remains tiny, by the baron's own request.) I'm still considering what would work best and be funniest. ^_^
hS
I'm probably aiming to be more involved in the Betaing of stories than necessarily writing them myself, so I'm quite happy for the logical thing to happen if it other people do not mind it. Rumours of any southward expansion into the Umor woods are completely fictitious, in fact one might say people are bark-ing up the wrong tree for that one even if I feel the Barony needs to branch out. :p
Nova
I didn't remember that Hauk was there. Baron Neshomeh is a logical and fair-minded tyrant custodian; she'd concede that it makes sense for Phobos' holdings to be overseen by someone who already has a stake there. Plus she's got nearly the entire southern coast to worry about as it is!
Heck, go ahead and have the bit of PC east of the Mountains of Reverence and north of the River Lhawjeck, too. That makes a pretty nice-looking territory.
~Neshomeh
(I'm just going to do it in plain English because Elvish is too much for me right now.)
A white circle with a thin black rim for the background, with four violins and four books between them as the little things which don't actually count as points. Are those called miri, or is that something else?
If I may, I’d like to be an (ex)troll. Due to some....tendencies I display.
now where did I put it? I will try to put up a picture of it once I find it.
I may or may not end up trying to make another one. I will also start writing a Plort thing. I am willing to change things in it if they don't work out. Also, here is my attempt at a blazon.
Sable, an open book proper on a bend sinister argent.
I think the format's right.
Vert, vial of glitter, chevron above Sable with star Or.
(I think I have a headache now. And there's probably an extra comma in there somewhere.)
Since Novastorme is a Permission Giver now, doesn't that mean that he is a Baron and presumably gets a barony somewhere?
This sounds very fun.
