The adventures of the sweariest accidental Mary Sue continue - or perhaps come to an end?! Yes, Mary finally meets Jay and Acacia for real, and her fate is decided. What fate? Spoilers!
Taken Far Too Literally 10: Grief, Gizmos, and Gollum (Who's Not As Dumb As He Looks) by GreyLadyBast
I actually remember Bast talking about this chapter two years later or so. She was very proud of herself for 'predicting' a certain change Peter Jackson made to the Mount Doom sequence in RotK - which, remember, was a long way in the future when this chapter came out. See what you think.

Gosh, the J+A cameo is nice, but the agents really could have resolved things for Mary a lot more straightforwardly! For starters, a CAD reading would have revealed Mary to be non-glittery, which would have removed the assassination option entirely. I don't see why they couldn't have portalled her back in time to when she left home, either, unless we were treating World One as unportalable back in this time period. I guess the opportunity to recruit, and earn more vacation time, was too tempting for J+A, but I would have just gotten Mary home, if it were me. You can probably guess what ending I'm rooting for, too!
As for predicting the film version of this scene . . . All I'll say is, bumrushing a villain feels a lot more natural for a human than it does for a Hobbit!

~Neshomeh is actually pretty sure he's getting back home soon, if he hasn't already.

This is Agnes Nutter. She is very sweet, but does take time to warm up to new people.
(And yes, she does give Nice and Accurate prophecies about when it's time to feed her. ^_~ )

A rather nice chapter! Good to see canon trying to stabilize, and shake off the invasive elements as best it can. It's especially good to see that the slash versions of the Fellowship aren't portrayed as noticeably different from their usual characterization!

I haven't read the other chapters (apologies) but I never figured that the months of posting the fic actually would pass! If I knew that... nothing would happen, because I haven't sporked any dimensional hoppers. I'll keep that in mind, though.
This reminds me of a later PPC (?) fic, where a "Sue" was part of a Mary Sue class in the factory (O think?) and the final test was "go into Middle Earth and mess it up" and this "Sue" was hunted down by oblivious PPC agents, despite the Sue not wanting to be a Sue? I think? It's been a hot minute since I've read it.
But, anyways, I like the feel of this chapter. Now I need to go back amd read the others.

The story you're describing sounds very much like Diary of an Undercover Sue. The part you're thinking of starts in chapter 16, and the agents are a certain Dafydd and Selene of DOGA. I actually cowrote those parts! Hirilnara was a good real-world friend of mine.
Also, good catch on the 'four months' thing. I was assuming TFTL took place in a few real-world days, so I need to adjust my thinking now!

Yeah, I really enjoyed it. I need to reread it because it was fun.
I forgot that your agents were used and didn't know (or forgot) that you cowrote those bits! That's awesome!
It may or may not have given me an idea a while back, but I never acted on the idea in fear of accidentally copying. Now I can't remember the idea lol.

Well, I liked it. No surprise there. It’s funny, and I like that Jay and Acacia try to recruit her. I like that Jay and Acacia appear at all.
Um, I thought that the swearing wasn’t as bad as it claims. That’s what I get for reading My Immortal.
Side note: when does the PPC +20 event end?

... will run at least through to the final TOS mission, which went up in August 2003 (less than a month before I joined - oof). Whether I continue it after that point depends entirely on how fed up I am with it. Doing okay so far, but it's only been 4 months.
(It would be nice to hit my own first PPC story, in October '03, but... well, who knows.)
