March Writing Prompts! by
on 2023-03-05 09:21:21 UTC
In all seriousness, apologies for not doing any last month, I wasn't in a great headspace at the start of the month and as the month progressed while I felt better I couldn't think of good prompts (and the idea of looking some up on the internet literally only just came to me as I write this). Also I wanted to try and write my own response to at least one of the prompts and I just wasn't in a writing mood.
But anyway, here are the three prompts for March, and I will (hopefully) be writing a response to one of them in the next week or two.
1) Your character has a secret
2) "A Surprise is just around the corner"
3) Keeping Traditions.
Well, good luck!
P.S. I don't frequent the discord anymore so idk if people would be open to the prompts there that don't look at the Board so much? Let me know and maybe we can figure something out.
(( Planned Write-Off using these prompts this Sunday 7 PM UTC / 12 PM Pacific / 3 Eastern )) by

I figured I’d post the plan on the Board as well so it doesn’t get lost in chat.
The way these work is that, at the appointed time, we all take half an hour to just write something. Typically, this was done with a prompt that got revealed when the Write-Off started, but I figured we could change things up a bit and jsu Nova’s list instead to see how that goes.
Afterwards, we go around and take turns posting what we wrote and reviewing each other’s work.
If you can’t make the time (especially on this one), there’s no problem with doing the writing at some other time.

Because I'm absolutely fantastic at posting reminders, the planned time caught some folks by surprise (and there were also folks who couldn't make it but thought they could), so, the main round of Write-Off had three entries.
- An untitled entry by eatpraylove (opens .docx download link, hopefully)
- An entry by OrangeFox
- And "Traditions" by Tomash (me)
Thanks to everyone who participated!

So first of all, I didn't meant to only respond to this today, honest. Oops.
But anyway, cool to hear the Write Offs are still happening and even cooler to think that there'll be one using my prompts, hopefully it goes well too.
Well, I can't do a Sunday. by

After no one responded in February (including me), I thought you weren't doing this. I'll try to get to it!

I still frequent the Discord pretty often, so I can give the folk there a heads-up. Might try one of these myself while I'm at it, provided I find the right time and motivation.
For prompt 3, Kaguya solo backstory, Doll Festival themed by

Hazama Takeo and Mitsuki had no daughter, but they celebrated Doll Festival all the same. It would be a waste not to display the hina doll set they had, a treasured Hazama family heirloom. Crafted by the famed Andō clan, it was an outstanding work of Kyoto craftsmanship: a full seven-tier set, every doll from the Emperor and Empress down to the three officials minutely carved and painted and clad in fine textiles, accompanied by furniture lacquered and gilded. Though passed down many generations, the doll set remained as new.
However, there was yet a more important reason for the celebration: the couple's son was fascinated by the elegance of hina dolls and blooming peach blossoms, the colours of chirashizushi and puffed rice. It was what truly mattered.
