By all the stars of Elbereth, WHAT?!

You take the Nightingale and her cousin out of their proper time - tear the Weaver's tapestry asunder to bring them to the Third Age - despoil utterly the greatest tale of love told among the Elves - and after all that, you don't use them? Really? You have a princess of Nargothrond, greatest city of the Noldor in exile, and Luthien of Doriath - possible the greatest weaver of elven magic of all time - and you don't do anything with them?

I want to take this. I really do. I want to dissect everything that's wrong with it and kill it dead. But I have a serious problem:

There's nothing to charge for!

The English is fairly touch-and-go, but this is a non-first-language author (A/N in chapter 12), so some slack should be cut. And Luthien at least is wildly out of character, so there's a character replacement/potential exorcism victim on hand... but she doesn't do anything! The entire story is a copy of the films, with occasional comments by the abductees. I don't know what department would even take this, it's so clearly wrong, but in such an undefinable way.

And that very nature means there's no 'moment when it breaks canon' - except of course for the very beginning. I'm not even sure there's anything worth writing.

But. I want to kill it. Does anyone think it could fall under the Department of Temporal Offenses? Or even the Department of WhatThe? I could club it to death on those terms...
