Character tournament: Who Would Win? by

So, PitViper and I ended up having a discussion about which of various canonical characters could defeat others in a fight. I think we ought to hold a tourney of sorts; name two characters, and everyone who knows those characters discusses which one would win if they fought.
For example: Cluny the Scourge, of the book Redwall, versus the mortal self of Drip Tiberius Rat in the webcomic Jack. Discuss. -
Cluny, maybe? (nm) by

Nita Callahan vs. Hermione Granger? by

Assuming:
--They actually have a reason to fight
--They both have time to prepare, to even out the higher preparation time required for spellcasting for Nita, and to let Hermione use her 1337 Research Skillz
-They don't immediately forget about fighting and start comparing their respective systems of magic
Neither one is allowed to call on allies.

I think I already said my money's on Cluny if he goes against mortal Drip, as Drip's a serial rapist who, according to what I've seen of canon, only kills women he attacks, who are presumably helpless. Cluny has battle experience, and as was mentioned before, a frickin poison tail barb. Now Demon-Drip, on the other hand, would have a much better chance, but I'd still say Cluny, simply because he's better equipped and Drip doesn't have much in the way of power. His only advantage would therefore be size.
I propose my own, now. Joel Calley (with Miranda's help) from the webcomic Concession versus Damien from El Goonish Shive. -
Ooh, tough one. by

On a physical level, Damien's more than a match for Joel; Joel's a regular mortal, and Damien's got the burning and super-healing. On the other hand, if Miranda gets into his head in time ... probably Joel and Miranda, then.

But as I have no real knowledge of either of your combatants, I will pose a fight of my own.

Clone/Stormtroopers never hit main characters, but they manage to kill unnamed bit characters all the time. The Red Shirts would go down pretty fast.

I vote Cluny. by

I've never read the Redwall series, but I'm pretty sure Cluny the Scourge is some kind of warrior. Drip was just a crazy murderer in life, who controlled his victims with threats. That wouldn't work on Cluny, and Cluny has the advantage of combat training that mortal!Drip couldn't match.

I don't know anything about Drip, so I'd have to say Cluny by default.
I will bring up that his habit of wearing a poisonous spike on his tail would probably end up being a lethal surprise to his opponents. Is there a restriction on weapons or armor? -
I think in this case there'd have to be a no-weapon rule. by

Drip's only weapon was occasional use of a gun, which would kind of be cheating. To make it properly fair they'd both have to have their tails tied round their waists, as the no-weapon rule would rule out Cluny's tail-whip and if he tied it up he'd be unbalanced ...
I kind of hope it would be Cluny that won. The mental images if Drip won are too disturbing. -

each to have their standard or most common weapon selection.

I don't know if Drip really used weapons much. by

I think he used a knife at one point and a gun on another occasion, but he didn't really have a trademark weapon.
