If the author owns the TV series, and has set up a "no fanfic" rule, then the TV series is also quarantined and you would be bounced straight back into your RC if you tried to portal in.

However, if the author does not own the TV series (having presumably sold the story to the producers), and the producers of the TV series do not forbid fan fiction, then the continuum is not quarantined.

Depending on how violently opposed to fan fiction the author is, and how close the TV series is to the original, you may (as an author) choose not to write fan fiction even though the author does not own the TV series. (I haven't researched Goodkind's exact opinions on fan fiction; I suggest you do and find out whether it's more of a "I worked hard on this canon and I don't want people destroying it with horrible writing and total absence of respect", or, "No fanfiction. Ever. It's the bane of my life, I hate fan authors, and I will sue your butt to Hades and back." If it's the latter, probably polite to stay away from the TV series too.)

Be careful working in "Legend of the Seeker"; if the Richard Rahl in that series is anything like the one in the books, you'll have to keep your sunglasses on to avoid being blinded by the glitter.
